Why is Origin such a garbage service? Why did you need to make your own version of "Steam" and not just leave your titles on there? Why must your "deals" always typically suck?

 

Anyways, mini rant aside, I'm just going to get down to it. I've got 75/75Mbps download speeds. I can download a game like Skyrim (the DLC and everything) in give or take 15 minutes. Skyrim is roughly a 11GB full download (again including it's DLC). Origin seems to think that this is not my download speed though as Battlefield Hardline (a roughly 10GB download) wants to take over 30 HOURS TO DOWNLOAD. 

 

I can't...WHAT EVEN EA? And no, before you say "Oh well it's just everyone hopping on their servers to download it so it's going to be slow". No, this isn't just with this game, it's with every game I've downloaded on Origin and I'm tired of it. When I download games even BIGGER than 11GB, let's say 20GB it takes my Internet about 25ish minutes to download that game on Steam, never HOURS. 

 

Anyone know how to fix this AT ALL? Because EA clearly doesn't know what they're doing. I've read that this has been an issue for multiple people for over a year and EA still hasn't fixed it.

 

UPDATE: So I do a speed test to show some guy in the replies that I wasn't lying about my speeds by taking a picture of the results, and after getting my results, the game started to download faster...no. I'm not kidding...I'm serious. It's like I had to prove to Origin that those were my speeds...

Origin isn't that bad...

 

I've had problems with download too though. However nothing like that.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

You're complaining about Origins? You've clearly never used Uplay before.

man, these idiots banned my account cus someone bought fifa 2k15 on it. 

I made another one. but I still lost battlefield 3. (ps3 stats).. and dead space.

Lets be serious now, origin is better then steam. What did you think that with many other thousands of people downloading one game that the servers wouldnt have a bit of slow down. Steam slows me down for no reason, not peak and a random ass game. Origin only has problem because ignorants such as you think its part of EA so its shit, it also doesnt have as many games as steam but the sales are great and the layout is nice

No its just the magical ability to not a fanboy. Valve is great no doubt about it but they need to get their damn act together in many areas. In the end its opinion based, we have all gotten too reliant on steam

It's not being a fanboy. EA has proven that they deserved the title they got 2 years in a row as the worst company ever. EA made Origin, so why not blame them for their own crap service? 

 

Also no, Steam is great. No one usually ever complains about it, and if they do, it gets resolved sooner or later. I guess you just have bad luck with them.

My biggest beef with Origin is that it's yet another program I have to boot up to gain full access to my gaming library.

 

In all seriousness: I like Steam's UI and overall service more - I mean, alot more, but I've seen EA do some pretty generous deals on Origin.  I got the Sims 2 complete collection for free (yes, all of the expansions).  And I think they've given away BF3 on multiple occasions.  They'll just flat out give games away sometimes, either to celebrate a release or if they messed up a launch.  

 

But again, I wish I didn't need another program for my games. :P

Or maybe he gets a problem that you don't? Jesus the ignorance.

 

To OP: Find a way to put it in to Dev mode. That fixed slow speeds for a lot of people.

 

EDIT:

  1. Exit Origin
  2. Create a new empty document on your desktop
  3. Enter the following in the file:
[connection]EnvironmentName=production[Feature]CdnOverride=akamai
  1. Save the file as EACore.ini
  2. Now start Origin. Upon start you will be asked if you want to import the file you just created on your desktop. Press Yes. This will overwrite your old config-file.
15px-Info_icon.svg.pngThe EACore.ini file is deleted from your desktop as soon as you import it. If you ever want to leave R&D mode you need to go to the location where Origin is installed and delete the EACore.ini file found there. 15px-Info_icon.svg.pngIt has been reported that having Origin in R&D-mode will increase your download speed.

theres a few things wrong with steam like there customer support and the games that get green lit
