Either of the i7s, preferably the 5820K unless you plan on going past 2-card SLI/CFX.

It's overkill though, just get an i5 unless you do content production.

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! i5 4690K.

Very very few games use more than 4 cores, and probably only 1-3 games use hyperthreading, meaning that an i5 is just as good as an i7 in games that don't use hyperthreading, and a quad core is just as good if not better than a 6 or 8 core processor. (Typically processors with more cores will end up having less powerful cores)

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

4690K is the best. 5820K/5930K are overkill and the 9590 is weaker than the 4690K.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Hi, I need help picking a CPU out of these:

None, go with a 4690k or 4790k. The i7 5XXX's are way overkill for gaming. Unless if you plan on using your PC as a workstation, you will be spending a lot more money on not much more performance. Also the FX is a topic for another day, but for the games today it won't perform well.

Edit: What GPU(s) are you using?

i5-4690k

i7-4790k

Hell if you wanted to save some money you could buy a second hand older i7

(i7-3770k i7-2600k-2700k)

Any of these will do nicely

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

i5-4690K or i7-4790K depending on your budget...make sure you pick a Z97 board that support dual GPU's at x8/x8 if you plan on using dual graphics cards.

If you live near a micro-center store make sure you check their in-store only combo deals it's worth a drive they can save you almost 100$ when you pair a select Z97 board and i5 or i7 processor.

If you don't live close to a micro-center, you'll have to order online in which case with the prices right now (i7-4790K is 100$ more right now...not worth it IMHO :()

this is what i suggest for your gaming rig:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.75 @ OutletPC)

Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($100.98 @ Newegg)

Total: $320.73

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |

CPU, motherboard and PSU IMHO should go unchanged...you might want to piick a case you like better or a GTX 970 GPU for example if you feel it's better... :) do you like this build? what would you improve?

Thanks I do like this build a lot, only thing i would change is the case to NZXT H440 Black/Blue (just cause my fav colour is blue) and change the graphics card to a 970 or 980. Might change the cpu to a i7 4790K

Thank you very much :)

Indeed if you can afford the 4790K and a GTX 970 or 980 then by all means go for it you wont regret your choices.

Also there's PLENTY of good Z97 motherboard that are black and blue if you like this colour scheme better and EVGA GTX 970 and 980 have some blue on them and are usualy quite cheap.

What i suggested was just more ''budget friendly'' and probably better price/performance ratio overall...but sure a 4790K and a GTX 970 would perform better.

Good luck!

EDIT: you might like this one better...
