I'm running an RM750. I would recommend you go up to 750W just to be safe! (Plus it's $10 for 100W more..) Otherwise, overall the RM series is absolutely excellent! :)

The rm650 would be good but there may be better alternatives depending on where you're shopping.

I wouldn't recommend getting a 500w for a 970 sli.

doing a full Corsair build. not a fanboy but very OCD with this matching its all Corsair and MSI except the case, wanted a 350D couldn't get a Z97M in South africa so going with the S340.

thanks @NonaHexa but prices here are a bit different.

RM650= R1 285

RM750= R1 933

I wanted the RM550, but rather play it a bit safe.

I like the idea of Corsair link and silence so thats why going for the RM instead of the CX and such

What is going on with this thread?! Please do not get Corsair RM, they are NOT good power supplies for the money.

EVGA G2

Corsair HX or RM series

RM doesn't even come near G2

I'm surprised they don't try to sell in the US except under a couple of brands (e.g., EVGA G2 and Rosewill Capstone are rebranded Super Flower PSUs).

Not many countries have them any more for some reason, there used to be quite a few but now idek where to buy them anymore

RM650 is pretty good imo with your build

nhiều PSU tốt hơn Corsair RM....

  • Good wattage options.
  • (Subjectively) Clean, sleek black ribbon cables.
  • Fully Modular.
  • Plenty of connectors.
  • Long cables. (Using it in my Full Tower and have plenty of length for cables.)
  • (Subjective) Silent Fan Mode for no / light loads. (Perfect to pair wit ha STRIX card.)
  • Quiet fan even when under heavy load.
  • Great build quality.

You get what you pay for, sir.

-It's not like every other PSU comes in only one wattage selection

-Purely aesthetics

-It's not like no other PSU in the world is fully-modular

-It's not like no other PSU in the world has plenty of connectors

-It's not like no other PSU in the world has long cables

-It's not like no other PSU in the world has a silent fan mode

-It's not like no other PSU in the world is quiet under load

-Not even close.

You do NOT get what you pay for. Please do your research before posting and recommending products. The RM is one of the most profitable products for Corsair and that's for a reason. They are VERY overpriced for what you get. A CWT-made power supply that is not even part of their DSG platform, with cheap capacitors and subpar build quality, should not even be compared to the likes of power supplies like the Seasonic G or EVGA G2 (Super Flower Leadex), both of which are often cheaper at the same wattage then the Corsair RM.

Take a look at this article http://www.overclock.net/t/1455892/why-you-might-not-want-to-buy-a-corsair-rm-psu

An RM750 is $120. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-rm750

That is ridiculous when an EVGA G2 of the same wattage only costs $80. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20750xr

Performance-wise, RM is often even worse then CX, never mind the Leadex-based G2. The G2 absolutely mops the floor with the RM.

750W-850W is generally what I would suggest for anyone who wants a PSU to be future proof.

You can run any dual GPU solution on it and price wise it's marginally more expensive than the 600W type PSU's.

650W should be fine for what you have, but if you ever want to get some cards that use a bit more wattage than 970's then you're hooped.

Hey guys please keep to English, no idea what's going on.

so what exactly makes the RM bad ? Yes it's not as good as others or as cheap but that doesn't make it a bad power supply. That just makes it not the best value compared to x.

RM has a bad reputation due to relatively lower quality secondary caps. The RM series is good but often overpriced.

Right...

I'm assuming that you still haven't bought the PSU yet. Where are you buying from, and what is your budget for the PSU? This would let us know what is available to you at what price point. Once we get this information, we will be able to tell you that the RM650 is worth it or not, as well as provide a different recommendation if necessary.

I think one of the factors you might want to consider is the warranty.

Especially if you have "future proofness" as a factor.

Buying a high quality PSU for not only my current, but also future builds to come was my main goal. I guess the EVGA just fit the bill for me.

EVGA 1600w T2, you'll never use it but it's there if power consumption requires more power.
