Random i know but i could not find anything about this. Does anyone know if it is fine for me to let my bearded dragons sleep outside of their enclosure at night, as when it comes to about 10pm i turn the heat lamp and lights off in their enclosure so they get cold inside there anyway. So i don't think it will make any difference if they are outside of it. The reason i am asking this is because they like to come out and sleep on the carpet or even on my desk sometimes.

I don't see why not. Just make sure your pet is kept in a safe environment.

not necessarily, I wouldnt be surprised if we had a few bearded dragon owners on the forums with a good answer for him

@KieranFretwell My sisters bearded dragon used to sleep on our coffee table all the time he loved it there. Personally i see nothing wrong with it so long as you know he/she cant up and run away and get lost in your house or something over night.

I was thinking the same thing, as there is no difference from them being in there at night and on my bedroom floor at night. I leave the enclosure door open for them in the day for them to come and go as they like. There is nothing that can hurt them in my room and when they get cold they don't move anyway because heat gives them energy so i don't think they are going to be running around having a party while i am trying to sleep.

Yeah there is no way they can get out so i guess it will be fine. One of them loves sleeping behind my computer and the other on my desk.

Do you have any other pets?

I can only really think of it bothering you while its sleeping, as its in a somewhat uncomfortable enviroment. If he starts doing the waving thing, (submissive gesture) I would say put him back, but I'm no expert.

I have no other pets, and they have both been outside of their enclosure sleeping for the last 30 mins now so i think they are okay.

If they have nowhere to go and you have no other pets I wouldnt worry. My sisters lizard slept on the coffee table for years with no problems at all.

  • 5 years later...

@KieranFretwell @AnnoyedShelf

Not a bearded dragon by I have many decades of experience with reptiles (Varanus being my specialty).

Cool evenings are not an issue, provided there is access nearby for heat, should the dragon wish.
