Not to burst your bubble, but it's been $700 for a couple of months :P

Definitely a good deal though :)

I've seen it going cheaper than 980's over in the EU. I would have totally gone with it if that was the case over on this side of the pond.

Is it worth getting it or getting a GTX 980 and upgrading in the future?

No

The r9 295x2 has more vram so less drops or maybe none in 3k and 4k

the 980 has 20fpa advantage but in 4k straight out loses

If youre playig mfaa x16 or smt the 980 sli is for you

If youre going the 4k route

295x2

And btw r9 290s arent watercooled

We are far too easily pleased.”

With $700 you can still buy two 970s which will perform the same (and better when overclocked) while using less power, creating less heat, and making less noise.

Oh yeah that's totally how it works.

Sooner the games will need more vram?

the 290x2 will beat 980 two-way SLI in 4K, so for the price its hilariously better for high resolution gaming. If i didn't already have two 290's, I would probably get a 295x2, or wait for the 380x. AMD is always more future proof, history has proven that.
