How do you guys feel about Cherry reds?

Does anyone actually prefer reds over all the other switches?

My personal opinion is that they are way to light and they feel almost like rubber domes. From personal experience, the only people who like reds are people who have not tried other switches.

If you are someone who genuinely prefers reds please sound off.

I genuinely prefer MX Reds, as does my cousin.

I come from a Logitech G710+ and a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate, he comes from a ThermalTake Poseidon Z Kailhua Blue keyboard, while also having prior experiences with the other two keyboards mentioned.

He currently has a Corsair K70 RGB in MX Reds, and we both adore the thing for how it feels. I hate the resistance that Blues take to depress. I actually swapped keyboards with my sister (she has the BWU, I have the G710+) and I despise how hard these keys are to press and how tired my fingers are getting. The linear actuation and light force of MX Reds works well for me.

.

The actuation force of Blues is only 5 grams more, I feel like your brain is effecting your perception of the keys more than you're actually being affected.

Placebo and expectation bias are pretty OP, our brains kinda suck for comparing stuff when we can see it and already think we know what to expect

I haven't honestly thought about the difference, I just feel a significant difference in pressure. It didn't even cross my mind when I first took her keyboard, but when I started typing, I could feel it. You're probably right though.

Lol, poor people that enjoy reds. All the hate. :P

No hate. I was honestly interested if people actually prefer them.

Glad someone genuinely likes them. I was just wondering, seeing as how many keyboards are available in reds.

There are a lot of keyboards out there, and that makes me pretty happy. I'd really like to get my hands on one sooner or later.

I like my red k70, although I felt it was a bit to easy to mistype, and I'm now using clears and love them more than reds and a lot more than browns. The only downside to clears is my fingers get tired much faster when playing FPS type games where I have to sit there holding down a key for extended periods of time.

I'm also not really sure why I don't love my browns....There are several possible reasons, that I really haven't had a chance to narrow down....I either don't like the keycaps (Quickfire Rapid), it's just uncomfortable because my desk is too high, or if I genuinely am not a fan of browns.

Now, you know what you can expect from these barbarians. They are a race of rabid BASTARDS that will fight us tooth and nail! But they don't know what they're up against. Cyrodiil, is CIVILIZATION! Cyrodiil, is ORDER! Cyrodiil is POWER! And out here, WE. ARE. CYRODIIL.

I tried Reds at Microcenter, but I prefer something tactile so I'm not left pressing a key up and down wondering where the actuation point is.

(Using Poseidon Z w/ Kailh Blues)

It's personal opinion. I like reds for gaming but use greens and love greens and greens are bae and clicky and all that yay.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

for shooters I prefer reds..gaming in general I prefer blacks. I normally keep 2 keyboards on my desk but have a third option just for changing things up.

I have blacks and am looking at moving to browns, can you give me a comparison? (If you're tried browns)

I don't have a mechanical keyboard yet, just haven't gotten around to it. Generally when I'm in the frame of mind to spend a good hundred on something like that I'll walk out with something else. That said in my mind I love the idea of blue switches however when I've tried them in the shops I've always preferred Reds. Maybe that's because I'm used to non-mechanical keyboards but either way that's just what I liked. So if I was to get a mechanical keyboard I would likely get Reds.

I had browns when I had a one keyboard set up. It was a Filco board, forget the model. First off I think if you only use one board for gaming and general typing Browns are a solid choice. That being said they feel just like red but have a slight bump in the stroke. I noticed this a lot when I first went from a red to brown board but I am a very very heavy typist...I smash the keys and after a while I didn't notice that slight bump while actuating a brown key.

as far as noise goes they sound pretty much the same but ended up adding "O" rings which made a barely noticeable difference in travel and noise. I use "O" rings in all my keyboards just for the hell of it, really just a habit and not worth the time but its my elitist OCD kicking in.

I like blacks really only because of my heavy typing...while the actuation force is barely heavier in my mind I think over the long-run they might help my finger joints because of my heavy/smashing habit.
