Cable companies want to watch and record you

What makes companies think this is okay? I wonder if the NSA has anything to do with the massive push to monitor you inside of your own home, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they were secretly behind the push. Who else is appalled by this?

First of all, your avatar suits this topic so well. Just needs to say "NSA" or something haha.

Anyway, on topic, I'm not surprised that this is happening, as I've suspected this possibility ever since I read those articles about some of Microsoft's patents (yes, I understand that this isn't necessarily related to Microsoft). I don't approve of having a camera specifically controlled by someone else in my household and am glad I cut the cable cord years ago. Nobody's got time for this.

It's all coming together.

Microsofts patent

sony and disney streaming movies that are in theaters.

New cable boxes to include cameras and sensors to detect living people

All the pieces are falling into place! Conversations are going on behind closed doors as companies collaborate to reduce privacy, increase sales and profits, charge content on a PER PERSON basis, Sell adds to individuals, along with selling our private information to marketers.

All this so they can advertise a flashy new "feature" of smart tv's and set top boxes while spying and stealing information without our consent.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.
