Don't reference boards have really crappy power delivery?

my reference 980 can run a very stable overclock of +200 on the core and mem with 125% powerboost. I have never had any power delivery problems.

yes they do.

Best power delivery is on the 970 HOF.

Get whichever one matches your build theme best. You will enjoy it no matter what, so there is no point in ripping out your eyebrows worrying about the minor differences between them.

Depends on what you're going for - there are a few factors that matter to people - simply pick the one(s) that suit you best

1. color

2. performance

3. noise (silence)

4. blower design vs internal exhaust

5. backplate (preventing PCB sag)

6. reference design (for easier watercooling in the future)

Take these into account when buying.

planning to buy gtx 970. The problem is which brand should i go. zotac or asus.!? does it even matter..!?

I say it does matter,I will go with some criteria each card have like

1. customer support, after sales experience, if things goes really bad

2. price/performance(raw performance ,cooler performance)

3. length and slots taken(this is doesn't count if you have a lot of space)

4. color scheme(except if you use some led strips then this doesn't count IMO, because the light from the led will dominate over the card color)

They are all near the same, so it really isn't that big a deal. Go with one that looks good for you, fits in your case and so on.

For instance, gigabyte is the 3 fan one that is quite longer, thus may not fit too easily in a smaller case (go g1 if you pick it), asus strix is a bit wider and though there is a difference in performance and cooling, it is near negligible to casual gamers, and still mostly minimal for those that are more experienced.... The same is said to hold true for the rest, but I am not as familiar with their specs.

Still new, but learning

So I've never dealt with Asus, but the experience I've had with zotac was the worst I've had with any manufacturer ever. Customer service is very rude, I sent a defective card in for RMA got the same card back with the same exact problem. I know every company isn't perfect but my first experience with them was a joke and I will never go back.

I went with msi Twin Frozer. It matched my color scheme. In the end it is the silicon lottery and your results may vary what 2-3 fps depending on overclock from one card to another. Also, I can overclock stable at 1344 core clock and overclocks itself to 1528 boost but have no intention of playing games like that. It is just for benchmarks.

Bought the EVGA. Its hard to find a color scheme where it doesn't work, ACX 2.0 is quiet (if you do the write fan curve), and the customer support is great. Mine was a horrible OCer, but it came with an OC already applied.

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.
