so ive been trying to OC my 970 but im only able to get +180 on the core clock and +200 on the mem clock on max power limit  and no core voltage increase. even if i raise it by one after 30 seconds of valley my fps drops to 4.6 for a second and then back to normal. if i add to the core voltage nothing changes. am i doing something wrong?

Not all chips are created equal. You just might have gotten one of the lesser ones.

yeah i know but the silicon lottery aside, am i doing it properly?

Different cards overclock differently, you've likely just got a bad chip.

arent the G1 chips higher binned? that was actually the reason i got the G1 :/

+180 on the core is normal for a G1 from what I've seen.

What does GPU-Z say your mem clock is?

You god damn ninja....

You're memory is lower than average for a G1... Can't you get it any higher?

nope, even if i adjust the clock y 1 and the core by 10 it will still crash for a sec and then proceed like normal.

Well.... not really much you can do. You could try removing the cooler and applying high-end thermal paste, or even watercool it. But other than that... not much you can do.

Thats a very respectable overclock. Being that the g1 is already pre overclocked from the factory your getting some nice numbers there.

Edit: To bad unigine usually doesnt report clock speed correctly.. if it was you would be running almost 1.7ghz on that gpu which is INSANE

One more time. This time with Afterburner to make sure it's an accurate reading.
