concerned about pc temperatures

i compared my pc to my friend's pc and his pc is much much cooler than mine his cpu temp is 25c and motherboard 30c on idle nothing OC

my cpu temp is 30c and motherboard 30c on idle nothing OC. we both have our fans running a default speeds

 

his pc specs are:

amd 8350

swiftech 240x cpu cooler

asus crosshair formula a-z motherboard 

all noctua fans 6 in total i believe

evga 970 FTW

nazxt h440 case

 

and my specs are

intel 4790k

h100i cpu cooler

asu z97 pro

all stock fans 

gygabite 970 g1 gaming

corsair 450D case

 

could it be that i mounted my radiator fans the wrong way, should i purchase noctua fans aswell? his cpu cooler is way better than mine?

i tought intel was supoose to be wasy cooler than amd

Idle temperatures are normal. Load temperatures are also more important than idle temperatures. In addition, the 8350 has an actual soldered heatspreader, while the 4790K is using thermal paste, causing worse heat dissipation.

 

I also tend to not trust AMD's temperature sensors.

Two completely different cases, completely different fans, expect it. Also, AMD has pretty bad sensors on their CPUs. My friends FX 4100 was reading 10C under full load and an idle of 2C... Just letting you know.

Also, worry more about load temps, idling isn't really a big deal.

30ºC is fine at idle, don't worry about that.

I believe the h100i has a mounting problem where you can't tighten it quite enough, the thumb screws bottom out on the pegs before the cpu prevents them from being tightened anymore. I have the same cooler and cpu and those temps look similar to mine so I wouldn't worry about it.

Meh 30 isn't bad. My cooler (enermax 120x, only in push though) does 35 at idle with fan curve to keep it somewhat quiet. It's the load temps you want to look at.

amd CPUs need to run cooler because they have much lower maximum temperatures than intel CPUs

Your friend's CPU cooler is a 280 rad, while yours is a 240, there's something to start with, and the difference isn't that big.

Another thing to consider is that if you aren't testing these in the same room then a 5 degree difference in load temps could be largely down to the ambient temperature of the room being different. Your friend has his room heated to 19 degrees, yours is at 22, that's 60% of the difference there for something you wouldn't notice normally.
