7850 had a single slot version.

R9 280 is the currently best value card, follow by R9 270X. But if you want a pure performance, go for 290. But these cards are pretty big, make sure that you measure that size of your case before you buy.

 

P.S. if you mean a single "expansion slot" then you can't get anything bigger than R7 240

When you watercool an 295x2 it becomes a single slot graphics card.

no it doesn't, you would have to dremmel the pci bracket too.

So you want a single slot, good performance card for cheap, please give more info? 45fps in for example League of Legends vs 45 fps in Farcry on decent settings are a world apart. 

 

You cant have it all, its impossible to get all 3 by most standards if you want it to be cheap you are gonna have to make allowances in  the other two areas.

 

 

Maybe giving us an exact budget might be helpful as cheap is not helpful.

Ares III, but in all seriousness it would have to be ~270x or lower as amd cards aren't about efficiency. Also, please define "good fps" with resolution and game + settings.

I just want a card that can hold above 40-50fps on most games even on high settings

r9 280 is insanely good for the 100-200 dollar range.

I wish every day i had picked up one , but hardware prices are crap here in portugal an the MSI one was 30 euros more expensive

so i purchase a 270x.
