Slow USB transfer speeds.

TheCrazyCryptonian

Just bought a PNY 16gb usb (product code FD16GBWAVE30-EF) and getting read/write speeds of around 600kb/s though pny says up to 80mb/s read and 20mb/s write. Any ideas why?

Are you transferring one file or many small files?

Is it in a usb 2.0 port instead of a usb 3.0?

are you transferring tons of small files?

It was originally doing lots of small files, then i tried a few large video files and still the same results. Also its definitely in usb 3.0, but even for 2.0 these are bad speeds.

Yup, thats it.

Pretty nice looking. As for the dissatisfying transfer speeds, have you tried it in any other computers?

Tried it on another computer. With smaller files speeds slowly decrease but i couldnt test for long enough to see them drop below 5mb/s. Large files were at around 16mb/s.

Something interesting happened when plugging it in though. I plugged it in before turning the computer on and the computer displayed disk errors as if it were trying to read from the usb. Didnt happen on this computer though

Hmm...you don't think that the USB 3.0 FD could be faulty?

Then it may well be faulty. How much was it, if you don't mind me asking?
