Hey, I have £120.

Pyroven

Need a new GPU.

My 7770 is broken. I found it had perfectly good performance, so anything on par or better will be ok.

What should I be considering? I can save up a bit to get a really big improvement if it isn't too far out of reach.

My immediate thoughts go to getting an r9 270, but people are all talking about 7000 series cards and I have no idea about where to begin with them. I would also quite like to get an r9 280 if someone can show me a place where one of those is close to my price range. Oh yeah and I have no idea about nVidia Cards.

1) Look at my signature.

2)How much does the 280 cost in your country?

3) R7 260X to R9 270 are all good value cards. Get the most expensive one you can from that range.

the r9 270 would be a significant improvement over your 7770, maybe get a 270x if you can't afford the 280.

Why the R9 270x ? it's a slight OC R9 270 and the R9 270 is cheaper.

You might want to consider a used high-end 7000 series card - some people will probably just think they're too outdated and sell them cheaper.

List of equivalent cards (thanks @Speedbird for the link in sig): http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/222806-what-rx-200-series-card-is-what-7000-series-card/

Yup. The 7950 is as little as 90 pounds shipped, but the 280 (equivalent card) is about 170 pounds shipped.

"For parts or not working." Maybe I should look at the pages sometimes.

But here's a 7950 for 130 pounds shipped used working: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gigabyte-Radeon-HD-7950-3072-MB-GVR795WF33GD-Graphics-Card-/291337047831?pt=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item43d50a8f17

Sig under construction.

A 280 starts at about £144, so if you can afford the £20 more then go for that.

For £120 the R9 270 is the card that makes the most sense.

Where did you find the 280x for £145?
