Are you a Hardcore or Casual Gamer?

i usaly play just one game... A LOT..

 

For some time it was World of tanks (like 2.5 years) now i play dota 2 (barely 50h on steam) and i love it!  :wub:

Casual... Only get tons of hours in games like skyrim, assassin's creed, minecraft (yes, but with mods) and if I'm bored I'll just play another game :)

Here is how it goes...

In the whole casual vs competitive fiasco gamers are labeled as either or. Traditionally gamers were just gamers, hardcore gamers, and Pro gamers. The word casual came about to start describing the flocks of individuals buying mainstream games. There mainstream games became inherently easily to play and lackluster alas Call of Duty. The issue with this is that games just became too easy but casual 12 years old gamers don't mind dumbed down games that take less skill whether it's multi-player or co-op. Big gaming corporations now make games based on statistical analysis of "what's hot" among casual gamers and this lead to the decline of gaming in gaming in certain aspects. The most notable is every new military shooter trying to rip off Call of Duty to get some of Dat cash cow. The term casual player has now earned a negative meaning.

So now we have casual games, gamers, hardcore games, and Pro gamers. Obviously the hardcore and Pro gamers dislike the dumbing down of skillful gamers and look down of the casual gamers and corporations who continue to ruin parts of the gaming industry.

That leaves us with just regular gamers who are stuck in a limbo of mediocre games, wishing for and being sympathetic to the competitive aspect of things. Who doesn't enjoy a good game of counter strike?

So some people on this forum may say they are "casual" gamers but in fact they are just regular gamers who enjoy challenging games not created by statistical data driven by the masses of casual gamers.

I for one am a hardcore player, I enjoy the challenges and being good at my games but I'm not going Pro any time soon :)

With 2 jobs, and university I just game for fun. I like to get a game off steam and actually finish it. I won't play any other game until I have completed the game once, then if I enjoyed it, I'll probably play it again in a harder mode

I chose casual because I go in phases. I've been playing Shadow of Mordor and Legend of Grimrock 2 like crazy the last few weeks, but before that I haven't played a game since about the ESO release. At that time I played ESO constantly for a couple months before I got bored with it.

Casual by your included definition but I would say Hardcore base on number of hours i spend playing Games.

I'm a casual by your definition. I play a ton of Counter Strike:GO, but I also have 150 other steam games that I like to play. I pretty much play whatever my friends are playing.

I'm that guy with the GPD Win.

By OP's definition I fall into both categories.

If the game is good I can devote 500+ hrs to it, or go as close to 100% completion as possible (I predominantly play single player, so some games don't have a huge amount of replayability).

But if the game doesn't grab me I will drift around looking for that perfect fit to my current state of mind; be it RPG, FPS, 3PS, sports, roguelike etc.  It depends on the games and how I'm feeling.

 

I have hardcore aspirations but casual ability & allowable time with 2 kids under 4.

I don't know what I would call myself. I only play video games about once every other month or so, but when I do play I tend to do it in 24 hour sessions. I actually won't play a game unless I can play for at least 8 hours.

I'm a casual gamer, but I don't have tons and tons of games. Right now I've currently only got about 12 games on my PC and 5 on my PS4.

I am casually hardcore...

 

But like @TetraSky I tend to want to play good VNs to 100% completion (a feat that may take over 400 hours per game)...

 

I play every now and then just to maintain a certain level of skill but move from game to game... and I personally dislike online multiplayer...
