that's assuming i would like the book in first place, not all those who watch movies read the book , so, i still don't get why people hate the hobbit movies, they are not as good , but they are not bad

and that was his opinion, Transformers 4 is a definition of horrible , not hobbit

The entire scene was amazingly good, but why include that i don't think it was needed/warranted.

The movies for the Hobbit are excellent films and I enjoy them 'almost' as much as i did the LOTR films. The LOTR films are my favorite movies.

 

The problem i have with the Hobbit films is that they are unnecessarily long. The book is shorter than one of the three LOTR books, yet it's made into three movies. Of course an argument can be made that a lot of the filler content was written in the LOTR books and i find including these parts to be excellent additions to the movie.

 

I have many criticism for the Hobbit movies, however i feel the majority of my criticisms where in the best interest of the 'movie'. Adding content that links the Hobbit to the LOTR i feel was necessary for the average film goer who has no interest in reading the books, although i personally believe they went overboard with adding content.

 

Overall i love the books and i love the movies. I expect changes when a book is made into a movie, and ultimately i feel the movies are excellent. If you enjoyed the movie, than i definitely recommend reading the book.

 

EDIT: I haven't seen the third film yet. Have to wait until December 26 for the Australian release date. So my opinion has been based on the first two movies.

Really enjoyed LotR movies (never actually read the books... Tom FrigginAnnoyinng Bombadil has defeated me every time)

As for the hobbit, the first movie was tolerable, the second movie was utter rubbish, and I'm going to watch the third at such time as I don't have to pay for it (Netflix or borrow from buddy or something) because there was MAYBE 2 movies worth of content in Hobbit + extended lore and they already got two movie admissions from me.

Yea, Peter Jackson did not need to make 3 movies out of the one book, but I feel the reason behind it was that he had his own vision of an exciting, breath taking adventure of Bilbo Baggins. He wanted to add his own content to the movies, content that he though would fit well within Middle earth. I can say that he did NOT need to do this to make it a fantastic movie considering that if he would have taken everything from the book and made that a movie it would have been FANTASTIC.  But the stuff that he did add was decent, even though it wasn't in the book.

Yea, the second movie was not as good as the first. I'm just glad you actually finished it. I've talked to so many people that told me they only watched like 30 min or 1 hour of the movie.

I like both as well, but LOTR atmosphere was more darkness and sadness maybe and for sauron fault  Thorin was amazing a total warrior, He was the king of the dwarves since the first movie for me.
