AMD 8320 and AMD r9 280, any good?

So I want to build a system with an XFX r9 280 and an AMD 8320, is it a good combo? That said, plz no fanboying. Also when I upgrade to a new cpu (once I get a job) What Intel CPU would deliver a good multicore performance better than the 8320?

I have a A10-7850K and 280. Can play most games Ultra 1080O 60+FPS. So 8320 should perform a bit better. And Intel CPU's will have better single and multi-core performance for the most part. Grab a 4690K when you can?

if you are going to upgrade within 6 months i would suggest just going with an intel one would save you the cost of having to buy a new mobo also

The R9 280 is a great card and the 8320 is a good cpu they would go great together (I would go Intel but that's besides the point).

I would suggest an i5-4690k as a future upgrade and a Z97 motherboard.

If you plan to upgrade to an intel chip later why not go with a Z97 motherboard and a i3 or G3258 now and just upgrade to the i5 when you can rather than having to replace everything later.

The 8320 is insanely good value right now. Amd's lineup is just very good for the price I would say go for it. It's not the best, but probably the best band for your buck. Although a step up to a cheaper r9 290 would be good too.

This is only 240 after rebate. I would definitely get this instead. A lot faster for not too much more.

You know the answer, a locked i5 performs better in games, but a 8320 will still do a decent job. If you plan on upgrading pretty soon, I HIGHLY suggest you get an i3 or a locked i5 (like a 4460) because otherwise you'll have to buy a new motherboard as well.

A gr8 choice for a range of tasks.

But if you could get more performance at a cheaper price then I don't see why anyone wouldn't.

Ipc is the defining factor, not how many cores you have or how many the software 'should' use.

The more game devs keep releasing unoptimized titles the worse performance is yet to come for older Cpus with slower than needed IPC.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

get i5 4460 and a cheap h97 mobo. it will be a strong cpu for the years to come but if you want to get into heavy editing and stuff later there is an upgrade path with the h97 mobo to a next gen i7(broadwell)

and its better than the fx anyways

I've owned 3 XFX, they come with transferable lifetime warranty, and are made with high quality components. What's wrong with XFX?

Also: Powercolor and Sapphire are definitely on the low end of GPU chipset manufacturers for quality.

absolutely nothing wrong with their products but people are affraid of their ''bellow average'' customer support if something goes wrong with one of their products...what they fail to realise is that gigabyte and Asus are also a pain in the butt when it comes to RMA and customer support :P

Well, I have a year and a half till i'm able to get an upgrade, also I want to do some multi core stuff, as in 3d rendering, and stuff like that, video editing.

AMD may have something new on the table for 2016 using it's Zen architecture which is currently in development. So if you're going to be upgrading in a year and a half both AMD and Intel should have some amazing new chips by then.

Well if its going to be over a year id say go for it then and why not just wait for skylake k series sometime in 2016 then rather than looking at current gen intel
