Mining harvests pc power to supposedly calculate things for the financial industry, and if you participate you earn a small service fee.

Also if you're considering it right now for money DON'T. There are major players that make it really hard to profit anymore. It's not even worth half the electricity.

It is a from of internet currency where you can obtain them by using your graphics card to solve complex math equations to get a specific code that is worth real world money.

Basically the GPU is put to 100% load doing calculations in order to earn money for the miner. If a GPU has been used for mining it'll take off about a year or so in it's life since it's been stressed so much. It's like constantly going full throttle on your car, it's going to kill the engine fast.

The "Folding@Home, Boinc, & Coin Mining" subforum explains it more in depth.

Basically, it means the card was run at 100% load (possibly overclocked and over-volted) for months, even years at a time with 0 stopping. Most likley they have quite a bit of dust in them (which can be fairly easily cleaned), but they might have a reduced life-span unless they were properly maintained. ask the seller what temps the cards were ran at.

It means its been pinned at 100% usage bascially all its life because some idiot thought it was a top idea to "mine" coins when ASIC miners exist

It is a from of internet currency where you can obtain them by using your graphics card to solve complex math equations to get a specific code that is worth real world money.

electricity cost, increased block difficulty, and degradation of hardware have all essentially killed home mining. your ROI would be very very low

Mining harvests pc power to supposedly calculate things for the financial industry, and if you participate you earn a small service fee.

Also if you're considering it right now for money DON'T. There are major players that make it really hard to profit anymore. It's not even worth half the electricity.

Thank You all.

When they say "used for mining" they mean that the card has been used in very extreme conditions for a long time which suggests that the cards may be damaged.

IT is?

AFAIK. Though I can't seem to find it in the CoC - but someone had showed it to me before.

All you need to know is that it stretches the GPU to its absolute limit, thus reducing life span

Telling someone to Google something is against the CoC.

Which is stupid. Especially if they're looking for an image.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)
