Microsoft Getting Rid of Clip-Art All Together . .

Nostalgia Much?..

382aeafea48f98b905fe9ade450e8c6c.jpg

Microsoft has just announced that it’s killing off the last trace of clip art in its Office products, instead pointing users in need of imagery toward "Bing" Image Search(Yeah! Like that'll work ).

Starting today, customers searching for Online Pictures in Office desktop products worldwide will view and download royalty-free images curated through Bing Images not from Microsoft database,

This will definitely be a tearjerker if you're familiar with this from your childhood, this was the best 'box' to find images to play around when learning the basics of creating a word document or a presentation slide,

from the late 90's this was extensively used in presentations that were based on then popular Microsoft office presentations like power-point & word documents,

Current suggestions include referral to bing image search engine (for the most accurate results  )

The move seems to be a rather effective one imo since none uses the damn thing ever unless you're in an island cut off from the internet

Now users are directed towards an alternative page where they are linked to tutorials on how to search fr images online, with the primary search engine being set as the ever powerful 'Bing' from microsoft..

Bing Everyone..

From now on the below quote will be seen in the supporting site:

Where is the Clip Art site?

The Office Clip Art site is no longer available. Instead, use pictures from Bing Images, which contains a more extensive collection of pictures to choose from.

  • To insert pictures from Bing to your Office application, see:
  • From desktop Office 2013, see Insert a picture from Bing Images to Office 2013
  • From your Office Online app, see Insert pictures from Bing Images to Office Online.
  • From Office 2003, 2007, or 2010, see Insert a picture From Bing Images to Office 2003, 2007, or 2010.

I haven't used it for so long that I actually forgot about it.

I'm surprised that this is taken down until now. I don't see many people use these clip arts very often.(Actually I don't see someone use this at all in the past few years)

They've been doing this for 365 for quite a while now, and I like it. Good that they're doing it for the other versions of office as well.

Although not that useful I do not see why they should take it out when it has been in the system for so long.

Nah, man. Real Bing would be like:

"Did you meant porn? I think you meant porn. Here have lots of porn anyway."

The stone cannot know why the chisel cleaves it; the iron cannot know why the fire scorches it. When thy life is cleft and scorched, when death and despair leap at thee, beat not thy breast and curse thy evil fate, but thank the Builder for the trials that shape thee.

I didn't think they still had clipart, I've not used it for 9-10 years, so I'm surprised it's taken his long to be phased out.
