Acer XB270HU: 1440p 144hz G-Sync. Competition for the Swift.

Gdourado

Acer will release a new gaming screen, the 27-Inch XB270HU. It is a 144 HZ TN screen with GSYNC at a nice WHQD resolution of 2560x1440. Fairly similar to the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q. But hey, finally some competition in this range right ?

The specs are fairly similar to the asus one as well, a AU Optronics panel is used here as well. This panel has a 1ms G2G response time, 144Hz refresh rate and support for NVIDIA's G-sync technology. It also supports 3D Vision and NVIDIA's Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) mode which is part of the G-sync feature. In other specs it also offers a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness, 170/160 viewing angles, 8-bit colour depth (16.7m colours) and a W-LED backlight offering sRGB colour gamut.

Acer will be promoting their new Eye Care initiative. The XB270HU includes a flicker-free backlight. There is only a DisplayPort 1.2 connection provided due to G-sync limitations, and as featured on the Asus ROG Swift. There are also 4 USB 3.0 ports available. The stand offers a full range of tilt, 150mm height, swivel and rotate adjustments and is also VESA mountable. The new screen is set to be released within the next few days in the UK as TFT central reports. pricing is yet to be determined.

I'm so excited. Competition in this market is great. I'll consider this one depending on pricing and a comparison to the swift. I look forward to jumping on gsync.

I'll be getting the Acer 4K G-sync monitor instead. The XB280HK. Same price as the Swift, and I'd rather have the increased res, especially for Star Citizen (because SC is monstrous on thin diagonal lines that no AA will ever get rid of)

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Personally, yes, now that I have used 1440p, I just want MORE, I have played only once in 4k but it was breathtaking, I am still very competitive in fast paced FPS games, I have not found 60fps to hold me back, but I have found I enjoy the aesthetic and graphics of games more

And if a guy who never saw even a 1440p monitor? Actually it is great to have 4k gsync monitor just for 800$

I think its insane, and I think if you are running 4k gysnc is a must, since you might experiance lots of frame drops lower than 60fps

Sucks that there is no 4k 144hz IPS/VA/PLS  with gysnc options :/ I would pay A LOT of money for it

I agree considering the 1440p 60hz model is like half the price

What does that even mean? The Swift is 144Hz

That "thingie" is an entire PCB with a processor, and it really is worth it. I went from a VG248QE to the Swift, G-Sync is as good as it was hyped to be.

Display port 1.2 does not have enough bandwidth to facilitate 144Hz at 1440P let alone 4K. Having spoken to Acer reps about 2 months ago when they were first bringing out the concept of a 4K panel supporting GSync at 144 Hz, they had to change their marketing material as they could not support 144Hz at 4K. If they were all using DP 1.3, there would be no issue.

Yes but the Swift is 144Hz, he's asking whether he should take the Swift/280 over 144Hz.

Are you talking out of your ass? The Swift is 144Hz 1440p and uses DP1.2, i have it right in front of me.
