Sooo...I like motion Blur

Dumbpants

Yea, I like motion blur/frame smoothing in games. Am I an idiot? I feel like everyone hates it. I was just curious what do you guys dislike about motion blur?

I like a little bit of motion blur, though too much of it just looks kinda shitty...

Its nicer for open world games but shooters don't and shouldn't have motion blur as you could miss a target or enemy that would be in front of you if your looking around fast.

Its ok for me, a little is nice but a lot can get pretty dizzying. Honestly it's all personal preference, the real crime is if a game doesn't give you the choice to turn it on or off :P

a slight bit can make it seem better in games like gta and far cry, but a intense fps game like csgo and bf4 its bad

Depends if the motion blur is done well or not. If its adds a noticeable amount of input lag then thats bad, but I would rather have a 144Hz screen and use my brain for natural motion blur rather than artificial motion blur on a 60Hz screen.

I understand not wanting it on multiplayer games, for accuracy and such, but I think it makes the game look a bit nicer and more put together, even on high frame rates.

I'm using the motion blur on far cry 4 right now, I game on a 144hz monitor, but I can only get about 80fps with this game.

On intense multiplayer games like bf4 or cs, no ways. But on slow-paced singleplayer games, i love it. I actuslly really loved the Half Life 2 motion blur. Subtle, not over the top, and no noticable lag.

Don't like it.

First we make our GPUs cry by asking them to render ridiculous amounts of complexity in high res.

After rendering all that high fidelity we ask them to apply a filter to make everything look blurred (worse). Oh and this comes with a further performance hit to make image look blurred.

Having motion blur on literally makes my awareness around me significantly lower while playing. Why would I want something that blurs my vision while I look for enemies?

Maybe if I'm getting nothing but 30FPS max, but at that point I'd be lowering everything else before turning on motion blur.

Motion blur will further reduce your framerate. It takes up GPU resources to make things look blurred.

That's the irony :)

Motion blur can look good if it's not applied to every object. If it's just applied to actual moving parts like a swinging sword then yeah... it can look good. But if you can't see your surroundings until you stop spining the view, it's really bad!

who cares...

^ This. Our eyes are accustomed to natural motion blur. No matter the amount of artificial blur added to games it will never look good and it has often given me headaches. I much prefer having a higher FPS as things would look far more natural that way.

Personal preference.

I hate it so much.

What you hate, can be different to what other people hate

Like it or Hate it....does it matter what other people use if YOU yourself enjoy it?

Who gives a shit what others like? Be your own person, don't let others dictate what you should/shouldn't like.

Some things are just wrong.

Murder is not good, yet some people murder.

Stealing is not good, yet some people steal.

Motion blur is not good, yet some people turn it on.

As humans we should use our inate sense of right and wrong and fight such atrocities.

You're not crazy, but more than likely in the minority. I'm not a fan of it since it just looks so un-natural.
