No, it wont

CL9 2133mhz...that must cost a pretty penny.

I was wondering if this memory would bottleneck with the i5 4690k

G.Skill Ripjaws X (2 x 4) 16GB, 2133Mhz, DDR3, CAS 9

Apart from the fact that 2x4=8... No ram can bottleneck a cpu, but very slow ram could not be enough to run smoothly some programs, but u r fine, also if u bought sth less powerful...

rig: i7 4770k @4.1Ghz (delidded), Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz, ROG Maximus VI Hero, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA GTX980SC, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB, Corsair SF600, self-built wooden Case, CoolerMaster QuickFire TK, Logitech G502, Blue Yeti, BenQ GW2760HS

RAM won't ''bottleneck a CPU'' that's not how it works...this ram you've linked is as good as it gets and if anything the CPU will ''bottleneck'' the ram if you overclock it a lot cause haswell memory controlers on the CPU can have a hard time dealing with such high frequency memory...but in any ways memory speed RARELY affect performance and certainly not in regards to gaming so i'd suggest you go with 8gb of the cheapest DDR3 RAM you can find, heres the proof:

 I meant (2 x 8)

Should I go with 4x4 ?

no, 8GB is PLENTY for gaming.

So do u mean the ram itself 8GB 2x4

or do you mean module 2 x 8 =16GB

8GB total is fine.

Whether that's 1x8GB, or 2x4GB is up to you.

There are theoretical situations where RAM is a bottleneck, but gaming isn't one of them.

He said he has 2 x 8 = 16gb.

And you are fine with those Rams. Very good ram.

Although, I would jump to the wagon that nowadays I would at least have 12gb of ram on my system. 8gb is not enough for me. Sure for gaming alone maybe but I personally just don't close all applications just to game. I want to have many apps open while those are de benefits of having more RAM.

If you use browser and have lots of tabs open while having other services and program working on background while you want to game. Then you going to love having those 16gb. And specially those that are fast.

Enjoy.

If I want to go with a 12GB which module should I go with

1 x 12

3 x 4

or 2 x 6

If you going to to haswell supports and requires dual channel ram bandwidth, you should better of go 2 x 8 = 16gb as dual channel. Or even 2 x 6 = 12gb. Just make sure the ram are optimized for dual channel as that is was haswell goes with.

That would be one of your best choice.

What is tested latency ?

Like its 2133Mhz and the testing 9-11-11-31-2N for G.skill it does not have 9-9-9-24 for 2133mhz,

but the Corsair Vengeance pro has 2133Mhz tested latency 9-11-10-30

This will give you an overview of ram preferences;High Speed RAM - Is it Worth it? DDR3 1333MHz vs …: http://youtu.be/dWgzA2C61z4In short cas latency is the time input in which the memory contract reacts to the given task. The lower cas the more faster it reacts. If you want a more define answer then
Column Address Strobe (CAS) latency, or CL, is the delay time between the moment a memory controller tells the memory module to access a particular memory column on aRAM module, and the moment the data from the given array location is available on the module's output pins. In general, the lower the CL, the better.

Wait..so...it will?

What are you referring "technically" to?

So should i change the CPU?

Technically you're bottlenecking the cpu because there's a faster kit of ram out there that can get the instructions from the RAM to the cache ever so slightly faster.

Erase the idea of bottlenecks from your memory unless it's something that will actually effect performance.

Please elaborate

sure, the OP has been suggested to go for 12GB...that imply going with 3x4GB sticks because as far as i know there are no 6GB stick so he couldnt use dual channel and this will relax the RAM's performance...and ALSO he absolutely don't need anything more than 8Gb for gaming...i play A LOT of modern games on my machine and i'm on windows 8.1 64bits pro with afterburner, riva tuner, fraps, hwmonitor, anti-virus and a lot of crap running while i play games (often listenning you tube videos and/or MP3's as well while fragging) and NEVER EVER did i've seen my PC use anything more than 5.2GB while playing...so 8 GB is PLENTY and it will be the foreseeable future as well because if games started using more than that many users couldnt run them and GAMING CONSOLES as well...

Okay, that has already been clarified please check my previous posts.

And btw what might be plenty for you it'd be irrelevant to other people. We all have each different preferences and computing workload. And as I keep saying, that To only game, to solely and only just have game open, 8gb might be enough (for now). That is why I keep saying.. It all depends on the workload of each given person. I can't game at all when I am streaming, fraping, listening to music, having browser open with many many tabs and extention going on, with other services being active with other programs on the background, etc etc. There is just a limit to what 8gb ram can do. And considering that sometimes there tend to be games that are so weirdly optimized that requires crazy ram like watchDogs for example.

So, yeah as I have told the OP for haswell, dual channel 2 x 8gb Is very good if he's daily workload is quite lot to having running many stuff on your screen.

Amount of ram gb need = the preferred amount of processes and program as well as services, task, extention, plug in, addon, multitask and game etc, taken in consideration.

snip!

as i mentionned in my post that you obviously didnt read fully i did played watchdogs with a shit ton of apps running including fraps, afterburner, riva tuner, hwinfo and this is when i peaked at 5.2GB...most games will not even require 4GB.
