as i mentionned in my post that you obviously didnt read fully i did played watchdogs with a shit ton of apps running including fraps, afterburner, riva tuner, hwinfo and this is when i peaked at 5.2GB...most games will not even require 4GB.

I did read your post. in your case it benefits you.

Again as solely gaming that is fine. But because it is enough for you might be enough for me. I hit more than that even surpassing the threshold of 8gb ram. If I had 8gb I would want for my maximum use to be 6.5gb anything above would decrease rams performance.

But I just do a lot more and have a lot of workload on background (not only the regular services and progressive "common" program but active program as well) with the focus on gaming.

There are also people that actually need more than 16gb. but that's into a whole professional production level.

Anyways, your need is 8gb fine. I also game but I need more than 8gb. So it's all self relevant. I wouldn't say you don't need more before actually taking in consideration the person's daily and computing workload. So for the op given he's only going to game, that would work for him but if he's spiking lots of ram usage maybe get more ram. Simple as that.

Edit: Btw there are cases in certain games that more ram speed increases performances. Take bf4 for example... Having faster clocked rams actually increases fps significantly
