Seems like overnight games went from 6GB RAM as 'recommended' to 'minimum.'

Like, did we suddenly start using the RAM to hold the entire game, or...

Firstly, this is one reason why I always got into RAM wars with people on proposed builds.  Since the beginning of 2014, people continued to recommend 8GB of RAM as "more than enough", as is if they knew what they were taking about.

Secondly, If you work any type of tech support then you know EXACTLY why the minimum specs keep on going up.... It saves you a lot of hassle.

If the advertised minimum requirements were 4GB of RAM and a gtx 480 (which could definitely run the game), you'd double the number of support calls/emails because people with older hardware having problems with their experience (for random ass reasons).

Nvidia is probably not to blame on this.

But I do hope in future they have a more positive impact or influence on the games they get involved in, or set certain quality standards when getting involved.

The way it's going at the moment the gameworks Nvidia titles are developing a reputation for bad optimization.

Nvidia should instead strive to ensure that they than showcase the real potential of PC gaming.

I think Ubisoft are 100% serious with these requirements.  I could only get about 60fps on Ultra @ 1080p with my 4770K and GTX 780 while playing Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and Watch Dogs. Unity is supposedly bigger than both.

. It's going to be a console port or it's going to be a highly unoptimized game (unless it was designed for 900 series cards. Either way this will be a big flop.

Nvidia at their event said they in the distant future they would make gameworks about showing off what their hardware is capable of. But it's most likely the developers which are not optimizing. It is not nvidia's fault.

Ubisoft has gone full retard. Seriously, have they learned anything from their previous failures?

Clearly not. THEY JUST KEEP ON DIGGING a hole for themselves.

So what settings are the consoles running at?

Lowest at 24 fps cos that's apparently cinematic. Running at either 480p, 720p or 792p

But this is "minimum" meaning, low settings, I can play black flag on Medium on my laptop with dual core i5 and 650m at 1366x768, and like medium/high at 1080p on my 7970m (crossfire)

Unless they mean - minimum required for 1080p 60p which is fair enough

That's what they say on most games, but run fine on a pentium. I'll get it and see anyway, or wait till people benchmark it

. Next year will get a R9 390 so I don't have to deal with this crap. And I am really disappointed in developers because they do not make games which look good or next gen. No one fully utilizes hardware and yet they all raise the standard. They can only raise the standard if it will look A lot better.I am knowledgeable in graphics sector and really annoyed as I was told that the 770 was overkill for 1080p but clearly isn't anymore.

WTF is wrong with those people! They cap the game at 30 fps as I've heard several times and after that they say that absurd minimum and recommended requirements.

Ubisoft got so low in my eyes, I'm not sure that I would wont to play even Far Cry 4.

Screw you Ubisoft and especially console makers and players. Go get PCs!

Unity is officially the new Crysis. A 7970 for minimum requirements? I am shocked. Really.

That's because Black Flag had a 62.5fps cap. It it weren't for that cap you would've been running the game at 100fps or more.

Yay for either incompetent Developers or Forced PC console parity!

The horribly sad fact when Warhorse Studio's Technical Alpha for Kingdom Come Deliverance using the CryEngine 3 looks and runs better with single GPU.
