Why are GPU prices so messed up?!?!

Hey guys,

 

I don't know if you realized that but something doesn't look right on Amazon. Look at that's ridiculous!:

 

1) Why would Asus GTX 980 Strix cost $719? It doesn't even have a high factory OC...what's so unique about it???

2) Look at the competition between Gigabyte, Zotac and EVGA:

Gigabyte's GTX 980 G1 Gaming costs $630 with 1329 MHz factory OC but with Double Bios.

EVGA's GTX 980 Classified costs $700 (on their website) with 1393 MHz factory OC with Triple Bios

Zotac's GTX 980 AMP Extreme costs $610 on Amazon and has a 1393 MHz factory OC. It doesn't say if it has Dual Bios however.

Also, why a reference GTX 980 card from EVGA costs $1299 ??? What on earth! That's like a Titan Z!

 

moving on...

 

1) GTX 970 G1 Gaming - $469 - 1329 MHz Boost - seriously, when did that card jump $100 up? It was $370 yesterday!!!

2) Zotac's GTX 970 Extreme - $409 - 1355MHz Boost - OK, so Zotac at last beats Gigabyte after their card jumped up $100!

3) And so here is where EVGA actually beats the crap of those 2: GTX 970 FTW - $370 with 1367MHz Boost Factory OC and Double Bios (on their website), why not Amazon???

 

Prices however look better on Newegg but what hell on Earth is that? EVGA lied for their Classified that it will be 1405MHz OC, and now 1393 and that thing for $700? No thanks EVGA! I didn't bother going after MSI cuz I have the feeling there is even a bigger mess with them...Look for yourself, but to tell you, these are not the right prices. Get your card from somewhere else if u gonna buy one soon.

Seriously? That massive price jump from demand... like that's one week and everything costs $100 more! It's not Black Friday for god's sake!

You forgot that 900 series cards are out of stock in several shops...

A lot of what you described is due to you taking the prices from their websites. Never take the prices from their websites, they're rarely accurate.

The prices aren't anywhere near as messed up as the manufacturers websites have led you to believe.

I learned economics. it was just hard to believe that can happen in such a short time. Wasn't like that with Kepler. It was a lot more calm...

Yeah Amazon is a collection of a bunch of sellers, and some of them sell products for absurd prices. I'm not sure why. I don't think anyone buys new or old graphics cards from Amazon for hundreds more than they're worth.

Well when the great depression happened it took a couple hours for the whole economy to crash...

Now that everything is linked together through the internet, I would expect the economy to crash in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. That's how fast it can happen, its scary.
