I had a rear speaker. Even a bottom speaker is better. Because you can cup your hand around it.

The positioning of speakers doesn't really matter to me, but I like better sounding speakers in general. Cause I sometimes listen to music off my phones internal speaker. My current phone is some $100 Alcatel, and the speaker on it is very good. It's a single rear facing speaker, but it's quite loud and the quality is amazing. It's not tinny at all and sounds better then if you were to have a single BoomSound speaker.

There's a difference between the speaker sounding good, and the placement being good. On the Nexus 5 it's in a location where it's just too frequently blocked by accident.

I don't want speakers on the front of my phone. They don't look aesthetic at all on the phones that have them and they needlessly increase the size of the phone. I've never watched something on my iPhone and thought, "Wow I wish the sound was higher quality" because if I'm watching something on my phone it's with headphones in some public space. Why would I ever watch something on my iPhone in a place where I could have the speakers going and not just use my Macbook, iPad or desktop?

In those rare instances I want to show my friends a video, the bottom speaker on the iPhone does a fine job. I don't need to add two front facing speakers that take away from the appearance of the phone with unsightly speaker grills to the front.

The Moto G honestly looks fine with its front stereo speakers.

I didn't think so until I moved from an m8 to my g3. The g3 is loud and sounds fine unless there's a lot of ambient noise, that's where front facing speakers make the biggest difference.
