ASUS ROG GR8 Desktop Computer

GoodBytes

ASUS anonces today their new Republic of Gamers (ROG) GR8, desktop computer.

ASUS_ROG_GR8_03.jpg

ASUS_ROG_GR8_05.jpg

The system is a smal slim form factor computer, powered by an Intel Core i7-4510U, up to 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3L, Windows 8.1/8.1 Pro, Intel Gigabit LAN, Dual Band Wireles A/C, and GeForce GTX 750Ti.

ASUS_ROG_GR8_04.jpg

The system has on the front 2 x USB 2.0, and 4 x USB 3.0 on the back, 1x HDMI, and 1x DisplayPort, and depending on the configuration can have an HDD or SSD of different sizes.

A cool ability is that it has a Miracast RECEIVER inside.

ASUS also mentions that the system include ASUS exclusive value added software, which you'll want to remove the moment you turn the system on:

SupremeFX Audio
Sonic SoundStage
Sonic SenseAmp
Sonic Studio
Sonic Radar II
GameFirst III

Kaspersky Anti-Virus (1-year full license)
AiSuite III
ASUS HomeCloud with Wi-Fi GO!/Media Streamer
DTS Connect

But what is nice about the system, unique to it, is that it comes with a mechanical keyboard. Yes!

ASUS M801 mechanical keyboard to be exact. Prety cool if you don't have one, and are intrested to have something to start with.

And of course, as it is a gaming computer, one is never complete without a 1 billion DPI shity dollar shop mouse: ASUS 6400DPI optical sensor "that tracks up to 200 inches per second, and 50G aceleration"

(We have got gaming mouses, keyboards, speakers, headphones, headsets, monitors and mouse pads, ... still waiting for that gaming printer)

GTX750Ti? I understand that the 950 isn't out yet, but still it seems a bit of an odd choice Imo. A 970m would have been better, since it is soldered on anyways

This. Why would you buy this if you can literally have a better gaming experience with a laptop? I didn't see the price mentioned anywhere, but since it's an ROG product I expect it to be overpriced as hell anyway.

QFT. it has a mobile chip. why not give it a mobile GPU as well

Especially since you could probably fit 2 of them in SLI in there. That thing is basically a laptop without a screen, keyboard and battery.

and plenty thicker, so you could do 3 way sli, and not have thermal problems.

what im guessing (if asus isnt just scummy) is that the RND for this was before the 900 series were even rumoured, and no specs were known, so they went with what they could... id still take the 880m then...

Sure, that might be the case, but is the 750ti even removeable? If not then it's the same situation we had with the Gigabyte Brix. "Hey look, we fit a desktop 760 in there!" and nobody cares because that thing thermal throttled like hell, you couldn't upgrade it in any way and an m-series GPU would have been the better choice all along. At least the 750ti shouldn't throttle in that thing, but it still seems like an incredibly stupid product to me.

i was just playing devils advocate. i think its a retarded decision what they did. :) i agree that an 880m or a 970/980m sli would be better

I like the form factor but the performance probably won't be good enough for me, also it's ROG so will likely be expensive.

Tyical prebuilt bullshit: 300 bucks processor paired with a 150 bucks GPU when it should be the other fucking way around for gamers.

the best thing about it is, its a slow 2c4t part with a 15W TDP at 2GHz, and the only reason for its price is the low TDP, on a FRIGGIN DESKTOP THAT DONT CARE FOR TDP :'D they could easily put a 4core part in there, a 50W one...

That and it is thicker than most laptops so a 870SLI could be easily cooled properly for astronomically better performance than a 750ti

Stupid idea. So much horsepower with such a crappy graphics configuration.

They'd likely have to make the case much larger. Higher TDP = more heat.
