Make Your Own Keycap Design!

Hey LTT,

So inspired by today's video about keycaps, I thought a thread with keycap designs would be interesting. So basically go to this link, scroll down, and create your own design. You can click the keyboard to customize individual keys. Then take a screenshot (snipping tool is the easiest) and upload it here. 

 

This is what I came up with:

 

Hopefully some of you guys are artsy enough to make some good ones. Nothing wrong with simplistic though. 

 

 

EDIT: If you guys are here just to say buy an RGB keyboard, please don't. You're just derailing the thread.

Or you could buy a corsair RGB keyboard and be able to do this with lights that can change and be programmed to your liking

i like the fact that OCUK lets you buy metal keycaps, so good

But those are lights. It isn't as apparent and looks much worse and isn't as cool.

But that's an opinion. It will be disagreed with by other people, and you cant change the colours of the caps without buying completely new ones.

Yea but it just doesn't look good and RGB keyboards have their issue.

How often do you see coloured keycaps?

Yes but the keycaps are a niche product. Most people either don't know about them or don't care. But you're completely right, opinion.

I think part of the fact is that backlights can be turned off, making the keyboard look normal or elegant.

Well to be honest, if you need or want your keyboard to be elegant, you shouldn't be buying keycaps. Backlights just don't look as cool IMHO.

Some people don't want to drop $189 on a keyboard with coloured lights. They could buy an R9 270 for the same price. 

Do you think a $100 keyboard and $89 key caps would make a difference? Then what if you want a different colour design? Another $89 for a new set of key caps?

You've never been to r/mechanicalkeyboards, have you? People there have collections of 10+ keyboards each with custom keycaps and other craziness.

 

Also, keycaps look much better and way more professional than disco lights.
