Former peasant--first build--X99-hackintosh

bomerr

Why all the hate for the 5820k? It is a great price and alternative to the 4790k, great for doing lots of stuff at once

They are jelly.

If people don't live next to a microcenter a 4790k might be a better buy but with cpu/motherboard combo microcenter offers it makes he x99 a sweet deal.

First If you look at my faceplate, you will see i had sections cut at the door hinge and bottom side.

Second I had to flatten out the rounded edge on the bottom of the case.

I get all of that - my question is how did you secure the motherboard tray to the inside of the computer? Did you repostion the stock stand-offs?

there are two types of stock stand-offs. A really short set and a slightly taller set. You would want to remove one set with a hammer and keep the other. Then drill holes into the motherboard tray so it secures to the factory stand-off location.

I accidentally removed them all like a n00b. So I ended ip buying a piece of aluminum remnants from Industrial Metal Supply and used Locktite Metal to secure everything together.

Are the taller ones the better ones to keep or the shorter ones near the top? I dremelled the PSU hole today and have that out of the way.
