I found the Windows 10 release date

I just got Windows 10 on my primary computer just like Microsoft said not to. Then I loaded up a Windows license checker to make sure Windows is activated because i have the build number in the bottom right corner. I saw that I was licensed and that the key Microsoft gives you ends on April 15th 2014 at 6:59:59 PM. Could Windows 10 be released then? Only Microsoft (and maybe me) know.

no thats when the key that was issued on install expires and you will need to update to a newer evaluation copy.

That means nothing, its just there so that you cant use the evaluation copy as a real os and not pay

the vista and 7 customer preview trails all where open for about 7 months to a year then about month after that they released. April is way way too soon.

Hmm no, that is not the release date.

Tech preview builds are trial version of Windows, but with some very long length of time. This is so that people don't go "Technical Preview for life" worse: "Release Candidate for life", where they get and use Windows for free, and just live with any minor bugs if any.

It is a product that you pay after all.

As releases come, the date will change, usually extending it.

So, yes, like in previous version of Windows, if you installed it as main OS, when it reaches its end of previews, you'll have 2-3 months to pick a decision:

-> Buy the full version and do a clean install.

-> Put the old version of Windows.

And yes, people will complain about it, like every single time. I don't get why, but it's Microsoft, so sure, it's the company that everyone loves to bash.

It's also, always the same complaints, like how they beta tested, so they deserve a free of version of Windows, or a deeper discount over the introductory discount, where it clearly is just volunteering that you do, in exchange to play with the latest and greatest stuff early, either because you want to, or because you like to, because you want to help out by providing feedback and making Windows more awesome. Windows 7 benefited a lot from it. (shame they didn't do that with Windows 8)
