[Build Log] NZXT S340, 4690k, R9 280

SMR

Hi,

I planned a build for late 2014, start 2015. The buying process started with a Corsair CX750M on rebate at newegg canada (yeah i'm from there).

This morning i purchased @ canadacomputers a NZXT S340 Black for 79$CAD.

I know it's not much for now but at least it's started. I live and work on my own so buying part will take between 2 and 4 months, depending on the outcomes and the incomes.

I will try to make it look as sharp as it can get, sleeving cable, cable managing, some color change, LED lightning, probably make a PC Stand so people can look at it, etc..

So yeah pretty boring for now, but i think it will become very interesting in the next few weeks or months !  :)

EDIT:

As i said, i go as my incomes and outcomes go. So i buy if i have money and i don't if i don't have. I WONT be in dept, in ANY way, just because i hate it, so f*ck visa lol. Plus, by doing it this way i can get everything when it's on sale :)

It should arrive today so I'll let you know what I think of it.

I wouldn't bother with a h100i. Evo 212 or NH-D15 all the way.

As others have said, leave the video card for last as you might be able to get better prices on better boards by then!

off-topic: that PSU with cables already sleeved is awesome - me gusta.

EDIT: $180 FOR A 750W SLEEVED PSU OMAHGAD

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k | CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 | Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 MARK 1 | Memory: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB 1866MHz | GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB Windforce

Used as a thermal paste it works like a charm, plus it smells nice... but seriously I don't know it's just a promotional thing that I got in the package.

Oh I see. Btw I like this one-by-one method. You can bring in all the components without going broke at your comfort. I too build my PC the same way.

Corsair H110 came in !! No photo though  And I'm buying mobo + processor this week !

One thing i'm wondering, having the pump + the 2 fans on the rads + 2 fans on the case, i'll need more fan headers than there is on the motherboard, so i guess fan controller (splitters would normally do but I don't find this elegant enough) ? I don't have 5.25' bays so no controller there (wouldn't get one anyway) nor included with the case, so if i must buy one, which one to get ?

Thoughts ?  :)

There are table top fan controllers but they are $50-$60 more.

I see, maybe an option, i'll look into this.

EDIT: Looked, and found this :

http://www.amazon.ca/NZXT-Sentry-LXE-External-Controller/dp/B003VRK1GC

Seems fucking awesome.

me three!

and as for your fan port problem try a hub?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811997110

I know theres others one like this so just look around

Hub seems nice. Would i be able to control the speed via this hub or everything is plugged directly with a molex connector to the PSU an runs at full speed?

On amazon it says there isn't a speed control option so yes it would be powered at 100%

Heres the grid+ this offers fan control via usb port

Current Build: Desk

My case is my most expensive part

Its Almost 2015 and I don't have an SSD

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey, everything showed up in the mail yesterday !!

So everything is up and running, i cleaned my case and waxed it, put some LED strips that i ordered from dazmod, along with sleeved atx wire and i put my MSI case "tag" on the cable hiding metal thing.

Sorry my N4 take shitty photos so i had to get my GoPro, not disapointed although i would have liked non fish-eye photos.

2w40g38.jpg

I need to make some good sleeved GPU wires now. But for this weekend i'll just enjoy it as it currently sits.   :)

Anyone have any idea what to do next ? Toughts ?   :P
