I sure know I do. To be specific, I pirate movies. Before you all tell me I'm a lowly scum who doesn't pay for my shit, hear me out.

As you can see in my profile, I live in Saudi Arabia. For the most part, it isn't the tent-filled, camel-dotted country many people think it is. We have computers, high-speed internet, the latest (consumer) technology, international schools, and many more things that a "desert" wouldn't have otherwise. Getting back to the topic at hand, one of the things missing here are cinemas. There was one, but it closed down. So now there are no cinemas, which means no movies. So you either have to:

1) Go to a local shop that sells movies for dirt cheap, but the quality video & audio quality of those movies is quite frankly shit, and they're not legit, so the money you pay isn't going to the movie makers anyways.

2) Go to a trusted brand like Virgin to get the blue ray movies legit, but it's a COMPLETE ripoff. I've traveled to Bahrain, and in the City Center mall they have over there, movie tickets are around the equivalent of 12 dollars. Not bad, right? So why pay the equivalent of 93 dollars at Virgin to watch a movie?

By now most of you have gotten my point, but some of you are probably about to smash through your screen telling me: "Netflix bro!" "Use Hulu" or something along those lines. Since Netflix and Hulu are US only, those are invalid solutions. But the more tech-savvy among you still do not see this as an excuse  to pirate. Well, I know what you're thinking. "Use a VPN and you're set." That is true; but the thing is that porn websites are blocked in Saudi Arabia, because porn is haram (forbidden) in Islam. Because they are blocked, many people use VPNs to view those websites. So the general idea among the public is:" Oh look, he has a VPN, he's a bad boy." So by getting rid of one problem (Streaming services being US only), I get myself tangled into a much bigger problem (seriously, watching porn is a big deal here).

So that's why I pirate my movies, because I have no other choice. Do you think this justifies pirating movies? Or do you think that there is no excuse whatsoever for stealing content? Leave your thoughts below!

From the CoC of this forum:

6. Piracy, Copyright Material, Cracks and Product Keys

...

In addition, any of the following violations are grounds for action being taken on your post and/or account:

  • Seeking help to create or find cracks.
  • Seeking missing files that are supplied with copyrighted installation CD(s)
  • Admitting to being involved in the distribution of copyrighted software/media, cracks and product keys.
  • Requesting or discussing the trade, sale, exchange or supply of any copyrighted material including (but not limited) to TV recordings, DVDs, movies, music, software etc.
  • Identifying torrents sources or websites where copyright material may be obtained.
  • Provide or request login details for restricted websites.
  • Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of our management.

I'd say by admitting to being a pirate, you are admitting to do that since torrenting means seeding and seeding means distribution of copyrighted stuff.

Also, ... yaaar matey.

Movies, games, software, music. I think I mentioned in another thread somewhere I owe Adobe about 30,000 dollars... and Autodesk another 20,000 lmao.

Firstly, what does inb4 mean?

Second of all, how do I lock/delete this thread if it means I'll get banned if I don't?

inb4 = In before.

You don't. A mod does. Read the CoC and don't worry about it.

Mods will be coming along shortly to lock it down. You wont get banned, maybe a warning point.
