Concerns about the Corsair CX 750M Power Supply

Go to solution Solved by Bintazmin,

Not sure if I'll SLI in the future. Maybe one day. I'll probably stick with this setup until 4K is within the reach of mere mortals. I do plan on overclocking a little bit (nothing too extreme, probably just play around the X99 Deluxe's auto tuning) so I think I'll stick with a 750 for now. I think I'll probably just go for the EVGA, I've been saving and planning this thing for about 6 months now so another couple of weeks won't kill me. Besides, I really don't want to be taking any chances with the amount I've spent on these components.

Thanks for the advice.

Hey everyone,

I'm putting my rig together at the moment and I'm quite happy with my component choice except for the power supply, I ordered a CX 750m because it was popular and it's a good price. I haven't started the build yet (waiting for a couple more parts) and I've been reading a lot about how unreliable the CX range is. Youtube is full of videos about coil whine and other noises that it makes. I have noticed however that these videos and most of the negative reviews are a bit older, maybe Corsair have made some improvements since then?

What are your experiences with this PS? If I'm willing to wait for another couple of weeks, I have the option of sending it back and paying the difference to upgrade to a EVGA Supernova 750 G2. Really not sure what to do.

Hi, I dont think that you will have any problems with it because you wont push it and even on full load you will still have around 350W headroom however if you plan on adding another 980 I would reconsider and since you said that you can still return your CX750M and if you are willing to wait untill EVGA Supernova G2 will arive then do it as it is a lot more decent PSU.

You have a very high end build going on there, it doesn't make much sense to me to stick a low end PSU in it.

Spend a bit more money on a better quality PSU.

It should run fine, but you would still be better off and safer with some a bit better.

yes. get the G2 . however only if you want to SLI(with the 980 you can sli on a 650W psu and have a lot of room for OC and stuff)

if you won`t sli get a good 500-550W psu
