This is just tax like anything else if u want to get around this stuff or games cheaper just use http://www.kinguin.us/ theres a ton of countries and currencies u can choose i use them all the time to get US prices instead of my shitty Aus ones and havnt had a problem yet.

They probably just leave it at 60 whatevercurrency just to be lazy and not convert currencies.

Both Origin and Steam use your location for pricing. So one must have "wrong" location set for them to show different currencies. As for why its converted straight, because they can.

Many digital retailers have adopted direct 1:1 dollar-to-euro currency conversion unfortunately. :(

 

When Finland moved from Marks to Euro some shops did same thing. Problem was that ratio between € and $ is modest, 1€ is about $1.2. For Marks its 6mk is 1€, which meant that 2mk coffee cup now costs 2€. Capitalism rules...
