System requirements for certain games?

So I've checked out a few sites that tell you the minimum requirements for games and the specs there all seem to be pumped up.

 

I have a core2quad Q8300 , Palit gtx 460, 4gigs of ram and a 1080p screen, all other components are low cost and this is what happens:

 

I go to sites like http://www.systemrequirementslab.com and check out Assassins Creed 4. It tells me that I do not meet the minimum requirements, altho I  played and finished the game on maximum/ultra settings without any lag or problems whatsoever, it ran smooth the entire game.

 

Game-debate.com is a bit better in that regard but it still sais I don't meet the recommended settings even though I clearly do. Why is that? Also are there any sites that display more accurate requirements for games?

At what framerate? Resolution?

Doesn't look maximum/ultra settings to me, more like a couple on high and everything else turned off straight up. Oh, and 10 fps.

Great way to introduce a new person to the forum guys, no really nice job.

 

@OP

 

Systemrequirements.org is trash these days, they used to be good but those days are gone. The best way to find out how a system will run a game is to do exactly what you did just now, hit up youtube and find a video of someone running it your at least the same GPU as you. That persons' i7 will puts it in a far better position than your CPU but it's close enough to give a decent indicator of how it will run.

40fps average I bet. Not my definition of smooth. And again, you claimed maximum/ultra, that's why people called bs.

i could do a video on titanfall on 4k with a gt 720 and said i got 30 on ultra?

He's not playing on maximum/ultra. Also, you still haven't stated your framerate and resolution (not your native monitor resolution, what resolution setting you're using in the game options)  :P

its not maxed out though, and its only hitting 40fps, most settings were off or on low, with a few high settings and only hitting 40fps

 

Running on ULTRA at 1080p 60fps requires much more powerful hardware

 

Did not meant to sound harsh, we just get it alot, sure the game runs on your system, but it is far from maxing it out

is literally the most useless website ever created, if you look at the minmum requirements posted on that video is states  260 would be needed for minimum and a 470 for recommended, you sit right underneat recommended settings hence you can play it ok

 

You would need something a lot better to max it out

 

Recommended: 

OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8 (both 32/64bit versions) 

Processor: Intel Core i5 2400S @ 2.5 GHz or better or AMD Phenom II x4 940 @ 3.0 GHz

I've been using 1080p in games, my monitor is also 120hz capable but with this gpu it will never reach that anyways in new games.

 

He is not using ultra, because high is the maximum setting, so there no really ultra with the exception of textures, which were on high.

 

I don't remmeber my frame rate AC4 was just an example, I can just tell that the game ran smooth for me, I play older games like Jedi Academy multiplayer on 120fps with a 120hz monitor so I can tell the difference in fps's and it was definately not as low as people here claim, it was on par with the video, about 40 fps

 

The main point of this topic was why sites rate my PC as not even within the minimum requirements which Lord Pantaloons answered somewhat.

I often find the opposit problem, especially with Steam. Some of their "recommended specs" are worse than mine and I still struggle with the game. I tend to just mess around with the settings until I get a good balance between FPS and graphics quality at my resolution (because screw interpolation).

Like said, Systemrequirementlabs isn't optimal to check whether something runs or not. According to it I couldn't run BF4 and I run that with low/med, 1080p and stable 70fps.

 

As for your hardware. Yes, its same that with YT and matches recommended. That doesn't make it runnable at all maxed out. Its more like having steady fps with medium or high settings. In your situation GPU is weakest link and I suggest upgrading if you want to continue to play newer games with better gfx.

It's threads like this that make me think my 770's borked, I've even read on another popular forum (won't post its name) someone was maxing Crysis 3 on a 750ti at 1080p. Yet of course when I benchmark my card its well within the expected results for its overclock.

guess what, some options can be turned to very high. and there is no AO and AA is just FXAA. so that is not ultra/maxed out.

system requirements lab is not that good now.

Yeah... not really same thing. GPU is 2 generations newer and still considered as valid card. CPU and RAM are much more powerful.
