Microsoft announces the XBox One game controller for PC.

Xbox-one-controller-pc.jpg

The controller features a 9inch long USB cable, making it great to use with a portable system, and can be detached to make it wireless and by doing so, will make it work with the XBox One. (Wireless on PC doesn't work. Needs to be wired, due to the lack of the wireless receiver needed)

The cable retails exactly the same price as the XBox One controller: $59.99 U.S.

So if you have you have an XBox One, and want a second controller, definitely get this one instead, as it is the same one as the normal XBox One controller, but has the USB cable to make it work on a PC.

It is expected to be released in November, this year.

As system requirements, you need a system running Windows 7 or later.

Picture note: Despite the added Photoshop headphones on the guys head, which is bright and colorful, getting your attention, you are supposed to focus on XBox One Controller he is playing with, connected to his Surface Pro 3, and not the fact that Microsoft has its own branded headphones.

Update:

Forum members are saying that the current XBox One controller works just fine with the PC if you get a USB cable and connect the controller to the PC.

So I assume this is just the XBox One controller with an official XBox One USB cable added in for free.

I was at a friend's and his Xbox One controller had a USB port/cable, I wonder if there is something different in the PCB that makes the regular XB1 controller not work on PC, or does it?

I used my XBO controller on my PC no issues so that shouldn't be a problem at all.

For OP to clarify, the standard Xbone controller works on PC just fine, but does not do so wirelessly.

Just buy a Wireless Xbox 360 Receiver.  It takes some effort setting up the drivers, and every time you unplug and replug it in, you need to re-install the drivers.  It only takes about 20seconds once you have the sequence down.  If you already own a 360 controller, this is your best option.  I really love mine. I have it paired with a Wireless Battery Charger and I can play all of my favorite games with a Xbox 360 controller, you will be surprised how many games are compatible with the 360 controller.

Linus even reviewed one recently.

"I genuinely dislike the promulgation of false information, especially to people who are asking for help selecting new parts."

That looks exactly like the original Xbox One controller. Now, does this controller give me the ability to play wirelessly on the PC? Because of the way it is worded, it sounds like it is just wireless for the console. Which means, there is NO difference whatsoever to the one I already have, besides a smaller cord (really 9 inches?).

Since when is a controller better than KBM? I can remap my keyboard to do just about any fucking thing I want....

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Based on what is being said on both sources, USB only for PC.

You have no pressure sensitivity with keyboard keys compared to analogue controllers. So you don't have fine character movement control. It's all in or nothing. By character I mean: platform game, racing game, fighting games, and whichever thing or person you control.

Already own a 360 controller (which I never use) so no interest from me, personally. If I'm going to buy another controller, it'll probably be the Steam Controller since it'll apparently be mappable for use on any Steam game.

True enough. Still that can probably be overcome on a software level

Does the XBox controller use bluetooth for wireless? The Dualshock 4 does, so it can be connected wirelessly to a PC (but needs third party beta drivers to work).
