Possible benchmarks of Nvidia's 900 series?

JDS

I fell upon this article, which many of you may have already seen, and it may already be on the forum, if so feel free to lock this.

In the event that this is new information to some of you, here are a few images from the article, and I'll post a link to the article.

Here is the desktop alleged benchmarks...

post-80890-0-08129700-1410425887_thumb.p

You'll notice that over the 780 Ti, there are some pretty decent performance gains. One thing that I had noticed is that 980 SLI is still behind a R9 295x2...

And here are the benchmarks for the mobile chips...

post-80890-0-88024000-1410426061.png

I owned a laptop that had a 670m, and since then I feel that they have made some massive improvements.  980M SLI scores a very impressive score, although the price/performance will still be terrible.  The 980M scores a very respectable score for a single mobile chip, and it outpaces a M290x by a large margin.

Here is a link to the article for you to draw your own conclusion: http://www.techspot.com/news/57999-upcoming-nvidia-gtx-900-series-graphics-cards-allegedly-benchmarked.html

Tell me what you think of this!

Man 980 sli worse than r9 295x2 really suck, especially since now 295x2 are $1000 ish.

Pretty much what I thought too. We will have to see what gaming laptop manufacturers roll out.

Ehh, it's not techspot that got the results, it was videocardz.  Even if this is complete bullshit, then it gives us something to talk about until we know for sure.

There will always be fanboy wars. Having an opinion is like having a dick...It's good to have one, but bad things happen when you try and shove it down someone's throat.

edit: you could go a lot of directions with that analogy, but let's just leave it where it's at...

I already saw these like two days ago on hardware.info.... However, nothing to spectacular (as expected) no need for 700 series owners to upgrade imho... However I'm much more interested in power usage.

I am not sure if I can trust you... You don't have 980 information...

I hear ya. What is the power usage we should be expecting?

I would say a lot less then equivalent performing cards from the 700 series, how much exactly is hard to say. You might want to look up some comparisons from the Maxwell arch cards that have already released (750Ti I think).

I'm curious to see how that will impact overclocking. If the necessary power is decreased, then so is heat, which could mean the overclocking ceiling is limited to chip quality rather than cooling. Maybe...

That is already kindof the case on  700 series, 700 series cards under water generally don't overclock a lot higher then 700 series cards on air. But it might be, best way to find out is just to wait a week or so... ;)

Still I was expecting the leap like from 680 - 780. Those were very very exciting times =D

Where waiting a year paid off.

Don't know if you noticed this, but the 980 has essentially the same performance as a 780 Ti, with a 25Mhz lower clock.

I just hope that they will release them soon, I've been waiting for them ever since I've got my i7-4970k-rig xD I'm getting real tired of this old nv 545 OEM card that I've got in my computer as a temporary card.

Wow a GTX780 really scores low on this benchmark :o

I noticed that too.  My 780 Ti scores over 13,000, which beats out the 980.  These scores seem unreasonably low.
