How do you feel about AT&T sponsoring LTT at CTIA

mvitkun

No, not at all.

Also, given that you're only 15 and perhaps can yet be saved, I suggest you think critically about your political views and reevaluate your positions from an objective standpoint using data.

The proletariat shall rise again.

Builder out.

Woa woa people!

This exclamation was brought to you by AT&T.

AT&T- Well, it's not about the size of your coverage map. But how you use it.

Oh what? You like Verizon's coverage map because it's bigger? Slut!

muh specs

DO IT. Anything to take money away from AT&T.

But in all seriousness, I think I would be ok with it as AT&T doesn't have any control over what videos are released and what is said in those videos. Giving extra coverage to AT&T because of the sponsorship is expected, but I would not accept it if part of the sponsorship gives them the right to say "We don't like that video, so don't release it." As long as they won't be influencing the accuracy and biased-ness of the content itself (other than, like I said, more coverage of AT&T), then I would be ok with it, though I still wouldn't prefer it.

Eh Linus has been good so far. I've seen him sponsor a product and rip on it in the same video.

Better than Tek Syndicate. I like Logan and the group, but their ads rub me the way of radio talk show style "integrate the sponsorship so you almost don't know if it's an add or not".

I don't know about that. I think it's pretty obvious it's a sponsorship.

Personally, I don't think Linus should accept sponsorship from companies that he doesn't like, or that might be bad for his audience.

I mean, don't get me wrong. It's not my show, or my money, or my effort, so you can do whatever you want, and I'm not going to boycott LTT over a sponsorship by an unlikeable company. I just think that so far sponsorships have been by companies that the audience will like, or are even beneficial to the audience (for example, offering Ting discounts), so I think a sponsorship by a company that the audience probably already knows about and already dislikes isn't a good idea.

NO AT&T!!!!! no comcast either for future reference :(

Personally between AT&T and Comcast I'd prefer AT&T.

The moment Slick said "Thanks for AT&T" I was like "Wait whaaaat...". To be honest, I think Linus Media Group should take sponsorships from companies they agree with and approve their business tactics, and since we're talking about motherf*cking AT&T here, well... *cough* net neutrality *cough* data caps *cough* throttling *cough*

Wow, that was fast.

It only took 500 ruined threads to reach that conclusion.

I'm fine with it as long as LTT does what LTT does. Linus is smart enough to make choices for his own company.

It's just an expo guys. Most of the "sponsorship" was probably just AT&T getting them to the event.

You can't really be critical when just looking at all these new products. I can't imagine there's any kind of "you must talk favourably about AT&T products" clause.

LMG is a business and I trust them act in a professional manner, but IMHO this sponsorship doesn't suit LMG or the viewers. To put it bluntly, I hope this is the last time they work together. Sorry Linus.

I understood what you meant. I just can tell when he says "Let's take a moment to check out our sponsor Squarespace", that it's a sponsor spot.

Before there's a misunderstanding, I'm not trying to rip on you or anything. I just don't think their sponsor spots are super subtle.

Also, holy shit this got political way too fast. Can people please have some consideration for those of us who like to avoid politics, or at least keep their politics away from their hobbies?

DO IT. BUT:

1. Make sure that AT&T is aware of your opinion about them.

2. Don't let them influence your opinion.

3. Show clearly in your video, that you get money from them. (like the usual sponsor integration)

Considering how strongly Linus has spoken out about the preposterous practices of telecom companies, I feel like he'd be either unfair to us as consumers of his content by being a company posterboy, or unfair to his sponsors by lambasting them.

Whatever Linus and the rest think is the best idea. Full disclosure would be appreciated, I trust their judgement. What is @LinusTech s opinion on this?

I would say no for many reasons, but the most prevalent being they are trying to end Net Neutrality, as well as being a really shitty cell carrier.
