Iphone 6 Disappointment

Today apple released their new iPhone 6, iPhone 6+, and their new watch. Lets start off with the basics. The phone is thinner with rounded edges, this may be good or bad. I found with the IPhone 5c the rounded edges made it to slippery and I kept dropping it. Also at what point does a phone become too thin. Alright now, it has a 1080HD screen, many phones have had this before nothing special apple. Second the camera...COME ON APPLE! It's the same camera, with some minor tweaks, as past versions and it sticks out! How inconvenient to have a raised circle to catch on things. Thirdly IOS8, they boast a lot about it's features and everything with the iPhone 6 but who cares I can get it on my 5c. Also aside from the IPhone is the watch. It looks nice and has some cool features but still for that much money I want a stand alone device not tethered to my phone. I really feel after Steve passed things went downhill for apple. More loose strings and things Jobs would of never let pass. To much money for something with features that phones already had. Apple please, your slacking off and it's showing.

1) Second the camera...COME ON APPLE! It's the same camera, with some minor tweaks, as past versions and it sticks out! How inconvenient to have a raised circle to catch on things.

 

2) Thirdly IOS8, they boast a lot about it's features and everything with the iPhone 6 but who cares I can get it on my 5c.

 

3) Also aside from the IPhone is the watch. It looks nice and has some cool features but still for that much money I want a stand alone device not tethered to my phone. I really feel after Steve passed things went downhill for apple. More loose strings and things Jobs would of never let pass. To much money for something with features that phones already had. Apple please, your slacking off and it's showing.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I am going to counteract some of these points. One, the camera. The only big thing it shares with the iPhone 5/5S is the amount of megapixels. The sensor has changed entirely. It has OIS, for example (pretty standard). The HTC One M8 doesn't. The curved display edges allow for a smoother experience, the screen protector on my M8 emulates such well. And it feels good. The 6 and 6+, due to their build materials, are likely to be more slippery. The iPhone 5C is a low end device, an iPhone 5 inside. The 6 and 6+ will run iOS 8 smoother and take advantage of all of the new features. And oh yeah, does the Galaxy S3 have KitKat support from Samsung? How about upcoming Android L? No, but the 4S gets iOS 8.

 

One thing I left out -- touch screen accuracy.

 

The touch screen is bound to be extremely accurate. I have an HTC One M8 and an iPhone 5, and the iP is noticeably more precise than the M8. I mis-press a lot less on the iP.

Today apple released their new iPhone 6, iPhone 6+, and their new watch. Lets start off with the basics. The phone is thinner with rounded edges, this may be good or bad. I found with the IPhone 5c the rounded edges made it to slippery and I kept dropping it. Also at what point does a phone become too thin. Alright now, it has a 1080HD screen, many phones have had this before nothing special apple. Second the camera...COME ON APPLE! 1. The camera is great. I think it's now a 12 MP camera engineered by Sony, one of the best camera makers in the world. And if it sticks out a little, nobody cares. My phone's camera sticks out a little bit, but it's fine.

 

2. the 1080P screen is fine, but I kinda agree. It would be awesome if Apple put a 2K screen inside the 6+.

 

3. iOS 8. It's supposed to cover a wide range of iDevices, including the 4S. Can your Samsung Galaxy S3 get KitKat? No. Android L? No.

1- If i need a camera of that quality or better, I just need to buy a separate camera. With how thin modern cameras are nowadays, I don't mind slipping one into my pocket. Try using some of this room for even more battery or prehaps a useful feature on a phone. I buy a phone to text, call, play games, and browse the internet I don't use up my limited internal storage on pictures and worse, videos.

3-Look at the Pebble and Pebble steel. Of course smartwatches are not for everyone, but there are WAY, WAY better options than the iWatch. Both price and looks.

I'm not going to go out and spend $100+ on a point and shoot (which will still be a toy) and carry that thing around with me every day everywhere I go. Thats just idiotic. A phone should have a good camera, and it certainly shouldn't be removed.

1- I am talking about trips and vacations as far as carrying one around. MY WHOLE POINT is that in a smartphone you don't really need a high end camera. Yeah, sure, when you pay that much it is nice to have. My point is ITS NOT NECESSARY FOR EVERYDAY USE. I can think of serveral things i would rather see in the place of a big camera on a phone.

3-Clearly you are not a smart watch person, and your third point is more of an opinion rather than being based on some sort of facts. Smartwatches are not a replacement for phones. In my PERSONAL OPINION they are supposed to be a cool watch that shows you notifications. Lets say you buy the basic pebble steel for $229 and you buy the $19.99 steel wrist band. This is still a hundred dollars below Apple's not so impressive looking smartwatch. So yeah a dollar to dollar comparason, like you suggested, reveals the iwatch is not all it is cracked up to be.

 

And it's a good thing Apple holds value, because it makes an easier sale when you found out you screwed up. (I own an iPhone 5, so don't assume I completely hate Apple)

I thought the camera was pretty neat, but I already use my phone's camera so little that praise or criticism both become moot. I guess I wasn't disappointed because we'd seen the sizes they had decided on for a while now, and that alone was enough to kill any consideration. They missed a couple more of my preferences so I'm not even remotely interested in the device.

 

Same can be said for the watch, no disappointment because I never would have considered purchasing it.

I guess I wasn't disappointed because we'd seen the sizes they had decided on for a while now, and that alone was enough to kill any consideration. They missed a couple more of my preferences so I'm not even remotely interested in the device.

 

Same can be said for the watch, no disappointment because I never would have considered purchasing it.

I actually do agree with Ellen, for once. I like the look of the iWatch. It will fit perfectly with my multipersonality person, as a runner and a multipurpose tool.

1) First off, they really dont need to improve the camera. It literally runs circles around virtually every other smartphone camera on the market. And I'm not sure if that second part is sarcasm or not...supposedly having the camera stick out a bit is better...not sure why, but apparently thats what people keep saying. 

 

2) <_< Yeah. How dare they support previous devices. Those greedy bastards making it so you don't have to upgrade after one year. 

 

3) None of the current smart watches are practical/worthwhile. Nothing crazy going on here. 

 

Look at the Sony Z1, Z2, and Z3. They have more lenses (And better ones) in a thinner area. Paired with the 20.7MP sensor.

These specs are very basic for now apart from the SOC, I mean even my nexus5 which was released ages ago now is what this is. But as always, "its apple" and the sheep will follow. Also surprised they moved to 1080p as now devs can't just do the 1x and 2x scaling on Apps but at the same time I'm happy as it's using a standard resolution and format.

If you are buying a expensive smart watch I would want it to at least be a standalone device. Otherwise whats the point from doing one more muscle movement and getting your phone out and looking at it.

I thought the camera was pretty neat, but I already use my phone's camera so little that praise or criticism both become moot. I guess I wasn't disappointed because we'd seen the sizes they had decided on for a while now, and that alone was enough to kill any consideration. They missed a couple more of my preferences so I'm not even remotely interested in the device.

 

Same can be said for the watch, no disappointment because I never would have considered purchasing it.

It's a phone. At the end of the day, it's main job is to call people and message people. Anything extra is a pleasant surprise.

Honestly I don't really care too much about the iPhone, it's way above my price range, it spawns fanboys and girls that are the most annoying people on earth, worse than console fanatics and it hasn't truly progressed since Mr Jobs left us. I was more interested in some of the apple watch features, such as the haptic feedback and the use of the dial to get around it. Otherwise the keynote was pretty boring if I'm honest. I'll be more interested in the iMac/MacBook broadwell update to be honest, especially with the MacBook Air.

The watch looks nice? No, it looks like Shit, as cheap looking as a pebble yet way more fucking expensive. I was more disappointed by the watch than the new phones.
