LTT 3DMark Thread

I might being installing Windows 7 Ultimate just so I can take the #1 spot for Skydiver with a R9 280. Windows 8.1 isn't impressing me that much anymore for 3DMark with AMD cards.

@Najuno, are you gonna update Skydiver scores soon? I want to see that #3 spot with this 280.

Go for it :). I'm always interested in your OCs my friend. Your OCing skills are hardly matched by anyone here.

EDIT: I'm so sorry m8 :(. I forgot to add that narf...

I also found an absolute steal of like 10 AMD R9 series GPU's for like 300$

Its 2x R9 280x, 2x R9 280, 3x R9 270x, 2x R9 290 and 1 R9 270. I'm trying to debate on getting them or saving and putting aside for some Kepler Titan Blacks.

I'm still gonna be doing that deal with you just boss has been an ass about my pay cycle.

You know those 780Ti coolers fit the Titan Black hehe :). But 10 GPUs for 300USD is more than cheap. Do they all work properly?

As far as I know they are in rough shape because they were used for GPU mining for almost a year straight.

Ouch... I'd keep my hands off mining cards honestly. I mean in the first place 300USD for 10 GPUs sounds very good value but for your purpose with OCing they might die under higher OC rather easily.

Why not go for a nice GTX980 or GTX970? These cards hold so much OCing potential.

I'd probably pick up a 970 just for toying around with. I'm still waiting for a Lighting card from MSI for Maxwell which might not ever happen :c

I can't see that MSI will make one any time soon, never heard of it for Maxwell.

A GTX970 is a fine GPU, especially for OCing because there's so much potential behind Maxwell GPUs.

Yeah, maybe they will think about doing one for the rumored 980 ti. Which if they do, there goes any and all money to getting 2-3 of them as soon as I can. I love MSI's overclocking cards. They have always done very well for me. Might be a bit flashy but they are very well built.

The 970's seem to be the card that alot of people have issues with BIOS modding to so when and if I pick up one I'll be doing everything can and probably dumping another 500+ hours to tweaking and fine tuning the BIOS to get the most out of what ever card I get.

The problem is with the GTX970 that it is a very popular GPU. A lot of people bought it, and how many of the people are actually able to mod the perfect BIOS for the individual card? Hardly anyone. Maximum is that some people dare to flash a modded BIOS on their cards. But that doesn't guarantee you the best OCs. I write just like you my own BIOS and dial my cards accrordingly in and then I tweak the BIOS again to get exactly all out of this GPU.

I would never mod a GPU BIOS without having the particular GPU here to test. The problem is that many people want crazy high OCs in the first place but never think about the consequences that they could fry the hardware with it. I've seen and heard it too many time that these folks then afterwards come back and rant around, because it's too hard for them to admit or understand that they did something wrong.

That's the reason why I didn't post in my OP of the Titan X owners club links to the flash software or modded BIOS.

True, I have noticed from seeing other people have the issue is with the 970's touching the power table on alot of the cards will trigger VRel even when the card is idle but it will still overclock just fine.

That´s more like it. Your CPU OC seems to be unstable because your time measurment is off, but as long as it isn´t a top score attempt I will let those scores always count :).

BTW thanks for the tip with the freezed lines... I work so much with Excel and didn´t think about it in my sheet here...

Got it stable, so here's a new result.  Feel free to delete the old one:

Benchmark: Fire Strike

CPU: i5-4690k @ 4.5GHz

GPU: GTX 980

GPU Core: 1,337MHz (lul)

GPU Memory: 1,953MHz

Score: 12327

So much hype going to have 600mm of rad space just for my CPU for a bit till I get some GPU's in my hands. I think I can do some higher voltage runs for my CPU when everything gets set up.

Whats wrong with the 7970?

Took it out of my brothers system when I did his upgrades around Christmas. He complained it "got a little hot". Hah. So when I shipped my 970 I took the 7970 off my parts shelf. Pegged 97C consistently. Massive thermal throttling and artifacting.

Tore it apart and repasted/padded it, its an MSI with a reference cooler and it was missing half its thermal pads. Almost need copper shims to fill in the gaps in the damn thing.

Now it idles at 28C which is a massive improvement and consistently hits 74-78C under load, but its a dog of a card.

Three weeks is nothing bad really... I've RMA'd 5 cards with Gigabyte, only 1 was fast returning with 3.5 weeks, the rest were about 4-5 weeks.

/To Australia, Don't know if it was GB-AUS or GB-USA who got it and returned it though..

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Good to know they haven't gotten any better. I had to RMA a pair of P5N-D boards and the process took so long I bought new boards before the replacements showed up.

The kicker? They returned the same boards. Asus techs swapped the BIOS chips claiming that would fix a voltage regulator issue. Lost an E8400 to them before I checked the serial numbers and figured out what they had done.

I tossed them in the trash and stopped buying Asus for a couple years.
