Are AMD drivers really that bad?

leelaa14
Go to solution Solved by Archangel1994,

Massively over-exaggerated. I for one hate the Nvidia drivers lol, they look so shite and and have a ease of use of a cow. I have Nvidia on my laptop and AMD in my PC and I have less trouble with the AMD driver than I do with the Nvidia driver.

Edit: Also you can get the sapphire Tri-x for £380, not £400 and you can get a 780 Ti for £460, not £500

I have had 0 issues with my amd card, i just wish that freesync and gamestream were on the 280x (yess i know gamestream is a nvidia thing)

I'm not starting an argument here but I am just sharing my experience and also showing proof that amd aren't all that great. Nvidia are less troublesome and more reliable.

You showed nothing but ignorant fanboy banter !

Haven't had any problems using nvidia drivers except for some beta releases. Nvidia has had a bad history with drivers destroying cards.

The only time I had driver problems with AMD (display driver stopped responding) was due to bad overclocks on my part  :P

Also, terrible non-clean installation (going from 12.11 => 14.4 for example or not cleaning "old" nvidia drivers) can cause problems; luckily you can use the nifty little AMD cleaner tool (only for cleaning Catalyst though), it works great.

Also, once you get the hang of it, the GUI is much nicer.

This and the fact that the nvidia 6xx series drivers have been an absolute travesty.

Their drivers were terrible a couple years ago. I'm positive that it's a non issue now. Still, it's only a matter of time until the shit hits the fan.

You do realise they reversed that policy right? After accusations from internal sources that nVidia was paying them to implement that policy...

nvidia payed off Origin PC to lock out AMD from that market sector.

Honestly, you need to stop riding AMD's jock you pathetic little fanboy. In every single thread (I kid you not) you always state that AMD is superior to NVIDIA.

I'm guessing you also think competition is a bad thing. Good riddance, I guess some people are completely clueless.

Enjoy your AMD monopoly. LOL, right... Like that's ever going to happen.

The only thing nvidia is outright superior towards Radeon is the fact that they have to ability to dupe allot of people into thinking that nvidia is the ultimate gamers choice because of ... "features" and included gimmicks. This is called marketing and yes nvidia spends allot more on it than AMD which is the only reason that there are more nvidia GPUs in people rigs.

I'd love to argue against this and shut up every idiot who thinks im a biased fanboy but it seems to be true.

after using nvidia ever since an mx440 (which i still love and have) overall ive had less problems with amd's drivers, me and my friend frequently have scaling issues with our nvidia cards and my gtx480 still gives me a yellow tint when going trough a dvi to vga adaptor which is likely a card issue? but ive never had problems with amd drivers, unlike some fanboys i don't go on proclaiming how awesome something is..... just because it works properly.

So you have eluded to personal attacks and call outs on the premise of typographical errors to try and justify your personal brand allegiance and sway others from another. Very smart my friend very smart LOL. I believe a point was just made by yourself.

It's been my experience that when someone resorts to being the grammar police, they are those usually on the losing side of an argument. You DO know that not all of us are from native English speaking countries, in fact, a lot of us are from Asia and non-native English parts of Europe. Your patronizing attitude only serves to show how petty you are.

You use CRU to enable custom resolutions with AMD, it's not included with AMD's driver package but it takes few seconds to acquire and setup.

As far as AMD drivers go, if your doing driver installs in the right order, not much goes wrong.

Chipset first, then Lan if not part of Chipset, then GPU drivers In most cases.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
