Best Case for Watercooling

Go to solution Solved by chrisnathan,

Corsair 350d. It's labeled as a micro but it's the size of mid.

Yeah but if you're going to get a 350D, you might as well get an Arc Midi R2, its slightly bigger and can fit a full size ATX board and its more water cooling friendly

Hey guys,

In your opinion, what is the best mid tower case for water-cooling? In terms of rad fitment and performance?

Storm Trooper or Stryker are good mid-tower and with some simple mods case easily handle some serious water cooling.

I was under the impression that the best mid tower for watercooling was a 650d? So far nobody has mentioned it...

Full tower I would say the 900D. It's basically made for watercooling if you ask me. Switch 810 is pretty good as well except for the fact its plastic mostly which turns many people off.

you said best.. the 650D is far from being best, maybe good/ok.. but not best.

the FD Arc Midi or R4 as for mid-tower under 22" tall

but we'd have to know what you have to determine radiator needs and then case..

trying to cool a 3960K @ 1.45vcore takes a lot of radiator power.

so that's why we need to know what you got for a build and requirements.

Well I'm currently running my 3770k at 4.8 with my nh-d14. But I would like to squeeze out 5.0 on it as well as cool a gtx 780 with watercooling

How would an r4 be better for water cooling than the 650D? Isn't it smaller?

I would use the Vengeance C70 for a mid tower water cooling rig. Room for 240 rad up front and roof.

Personal Rig: i7 7700K - Asus Strix Z270H - 2x8GB GSkill RGB memory 3000Mhz - EVGA GTX1080ti SC2 - 2X Samsung 850 EVO 500GB - EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2

that's great, but loaded air-temps are better to prescribe a proper listing.

4.8 on what vCORE? if the D14 is holding under 80° and the GPU is

under 70° loaded on air-cooling then a 360x 60 radiator would be the

ticket. since trying to use a mid-tower, the 2x 240x 60 radiators would be

an excellent choice to use low speed fans (2.0mm/h2o or better) with a

loose fin per inch count (sub 12fpi). but if in the future you might be looking

adding another GPU (SLI) you got a major hurdle to jump.. one of the 240

radiators needs to be change to a 360 to handle all the overclocking and

get some much needed headroom for thermal control.

Well here is my 25 hour prime test. Only reason my max temp was 89 is because my brother cranked the heat in the house at night. It hovers around 80 otherwise. My current card (680) isn't overclocked so I don't have load temps for that. I guess I should rephrase my question. Which mid tower case could handle the most water cooling horsepower in the price range of 100-200 dollars?

If by best, you mean the best of the best in terms of water cooling capabilities, then no other cases can compare to ones Caselabs have. They are not remotely close to being cheap though.

Here's their biggest case as an example:

I thought that was your build for a second there, or is it? That looks incredible

LOL I was actually tempted to do this kind of build myself in the past but dropped it because it was too impractical, even by my standards.

The pic is from Performance-PC's monster build.

I may be alone in thinking this, but personally i prefer cheap modable cases for watercooling.  Right now there are only two cases out there that won't limit the performance of your other components, and those are the TJ11 and the 900D. Unless you get one of these cases you will need to mod in order to get the fullest performance out of your components.  So if you are going to mod it anyway, what is the point in sending $250 instead of $60?  With enough modding radiators can fit nearly anywhere.  That's why it always seemed to be a waste to spend money on a case when you don't need to.

Like I said this doesn't apply to the TJ11 or the 900D, because these cases don't require any modding.

If you want a midtower for watercooling the best would be the fractal design arc midi r2. I believe that you can put a 360 in the roof and a 240 in the front but correct me if i'm wrong.

The TJ11 is insanely overpriced. You can buy a Caselabs case for cheaper and do more with it.
