I really dislike Phil Fish - he strikes me as an utter manchild, and I don't care one bit if he leaves the industry. Still, I'm not happy about this. The immaturity of the hack hurts the credibility of people who are legitimately trying to shed light on the problems of the gaming journalism industry. I am pretty sure that's Phil trying to put the blame on /v/ (or "/V/" as he calls it).

The files were hosted on his own website. If you're going to spread information about someone then you don't put the info on his own website where he can delete it. You upload it somewhere else.

There is no reason why that kind of info would have been on the Polytron website. You don't keep all your personal info, bank account info etc stored on your company website. Just ask Linus if he keeps all his personal info on LinusMediaGroup.

The people who got "hacked" (Phil and Quinn) somehow had access to their accounts while the attack was ongoing. No... That just wouldn't happen.

 

They did this themselves as an attempt to gain sympathy.

 

TL;DR: He probably wasn't doxed and he had pretty already left the gaming industry.

I am glad he is gone. The gaming industry don't need people like him.

CloudFlare is just a a CDN. All the security and management is on the one who hosts the original website. You don't login to the website through CloudFlare.

For example LTT uses CloudFlare but Linus won't have to use two-step verification to sign in to his LinusTech account on here.

I have no idea who phil is or whether or not he deserved it. but if self proclaimed judge and jury lynch mobs do this every time a developer says something they don't like,  then They will be the ones that kill the internet,  not comcast or time warner.    But them, as the fear of having our personal details sprawled across the net by an anonymous hacker is enough o deter people from taking up indie game development.

no you don't, a content delivery network is what is sound like, also hacking the site through a CDN like cloudfare should be harder that hacking the site itself (i think), and even if your true about him doing that to his own site, then what's the fucking reasoning for him to do that to begin with, it doesn't fucking make sense at all, it doesn't make his IP more valuable, it should actually reduce it, because the asshole hacker that did this is probably going to screw with whoever ends up buying it, just because it was phil creation

someone will, FEZ on its own was a brilliant game, the media at the time was hyping it a lot due to the demos in trade shows and it got really good reviews on its original xbox 360 launch for as much shit this guy did, its a good game

Like I said before, there are a ton of holes in the "he was hacked" theory and I have not been able to find his dox anywhere. If he really was doxxed, it would be all over the Internet, but so far I haven't found it.
