However the R9 295X2 in CF will defeat dual Titan Z (at half price I might add :D). Still pretty stupid that they gift you that thing lol

The most common result of insufficient wattage is a paperweight that looks like a PC

The Titan Z that wins there is OC'd. The Non-OC titan Z vs the non-OC 295X2 the 295X2 wins. Also with a mere 0.6 fps difference the 295x2 smashes the Titan Z at half the price IMO (looking relatively)

And 295x2 Beats TitanZ and ties with OCed titan Zs at stock xD .7 fps is within margin of error (on SLI/CF samething)

while not having unlocked double precision, CUDA, or Physx (all of which are highly useful to programmers, and the first hindering gaming performance by adding microcode which won't exist in the 790). It's not a gaming card regardless of it being Geforce. It's a hybrid card meant for researchers. You'd have to be in an academic, government, or corporate environment to afford it. People really need to stop treating the Titan Z like a gaming card. It's a bleeding-edge technology card that demonstrates simultaneous real-time rendering and simulation. That's something the R9 295x2 cannot even begin to touch. It's a grand experiment, it's an academic toy, and it's bragging rights. It's not a gaming card, period.

And to be fair, the reference 295x2 is water cooled (are there any air-cooled versions?). Its stock speed is ludicrously higher than a typical reference cooler could provide. It's pre-overclocked by simple extrapolation. compare it against the EVGA Hydrocopper and then you have a reference Z.

The issue people have though is that it is MARKETED as a gaming card. It's marketed as a competitor to the 295x2. Just like the original Titan was marketed as the ultimate gaming card. If Nvidia wanted it judged as a professional hybrid card, they would market it as that, but I have seen very little advertising about the Titan lines workstation capabilities.

Beyond the original demo, in which the head engineers all called it a mini supercomputer and stressed all the things no gamer would care about... It's Geforce and therefore must be for games...even though it's at a price point no rational gamer would touch, and when it has features and tech aimed at no other market than novelty!

Marketing be damned it's an academic's toy or a non-ECC compute card and anyone who says differently is on crack.
