How to achieve silence?

Tadas

Hello guys,

I have a:

  • Cooler Master K350 case (with included fan)
  • Corsair AF120 (1x)
  • Little wire or adapter thingie that connects from fan to MOBO to reduce it`s voltage I think from 12V to 5.5V
  • AMD 750K with its original BOX cooler
  • MSI HD7770 GHz Edition
  • Corsair CX430 PSU
  • Rubber mounts on AF120 fan

Dont know if it matters but the rest of specs are there :D

  • WD Blue 1TB HDD
  • Asrock A55 MOBO (w/o USB3 or any other fancy stuff I guess :D)
  • Crucial Ballistix 4GB RAM

What can I do to make my pc more silent? Now its 50 dB on Idle and even more when I play games or watch hd videos, then my pc outputs a 60 dB of sound. What could I do to make it more silent and not throw much money at it? :D

EDIT: Decibels are from my phone decibel meter app, I dont know if its good or not, it was number one on market though :D

Reduce fans/ fan speed...that's really all you can do without spending money, or get silent optimized fans.

Get a hyper 212 evo, its only $30 and often goes on sale for $20.

EDIT:  Nvm, it doesn't have enough clearance for a hyper 212.

Get a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 instead. Its only $15 and will fit in your case.

I want to do that, but SpeedFan (I think it is called like that :D) is too complicated to me, and I dont know how to reduce speed enough, that my stuff wont burn :D

New CPU cooler, replace all case fans with silent fans, use low noise fan adapters, buy a G10 and watercool your GPU.

Can you give us a budget for how much you have to spend?

From none to really low, like $12, Im still young so I dont have a lot money for PC :(, I have more, just I like to save for bigger things when I need it, for example I saved for my new PC and bought it by myself. I dont like to ask something from my parents.

I doubt either case fan would be outputting that much noise...but, just to double check...

Well, you can run it with both case fans unplugged (just keep an eye on temps) and you'll know immediatley if its the case fans or cpu fans. Although I'm quite confident its the stock cooler.

Spending no money the only way to make it more silent is to make it run hotter (slowing down the fans) or making airflow better so that the fans can spin slower achieving the same cooling. Spending some money you can get a quieter cpu cooler and replace the case fan with a silence optimized one from the likes of noctua.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Get a good CPU cooler, and lose the Corsair fans. Buy some new fans with a rated dB level of 20 or lower and a static pressure number of 1 or higher.

Make sure fans and any grills or filters are clean.

Akasa Apaches (or Rosewill Hyperboreas) should do the job for the least amount of money. The Rosewill versions are like $9 on Newegg.

Thanks for the tips! I put a finger on CPU fan and heard nothing but silence :D I have already ordered a TX3 from Cooler Master. Maybe you know is alcohol has to be 99% to clean thermal paste or I can buy something with less percentage?

Less is fine. I personally used 91% on mine, and plenty of people have used 70%~. Just be aware that the lower the percentage the longer it takes to evaporate off. So give 70% a bit more time before applying new paste.
