How to win arguments like these?

Ok guys I hope someone on here can feel my pain and fustration!

 

So im posting as Jay.

 

Does anyone else have to ever put up with such rubbish and find you can never get through to some people?

Jay - You should agree with me if you had a clue about all aspects of what makes a good game, gameplay is important and until you've got first hand experience of the difference between 30 and 60fps and even 60 and 120 you can't comment. Fair enough if theres no frame skipping or stuttering then that's great but this is down to Bungie having kick ass programmers! I feel sorry for console gamers as they've been sold consoles marketed as 'next gen' but can't even push 60fps at 1080p.. This holds back gaming across the board as games have to be developed in order to run on these shitboxes so instead of hating me you should hate the guys who are stopping you from having a better experience. The one and ps4 could of been more than capable of better specs but they cheaped out. Enjoy the next 5 years of sub-par gaming

 

 

Jay - No 30fps is the bare minimum which makes games playable. You can't deny more isn't better as that's just fact, you'd be an idiot to argue against that. A lot of games are playable at 30hz and most people know no different but its a much better gaming experience at 60+. Don't even get me started on resolution lol but I suppose you can't tell the difference between 1080 and 1440 or even 4k! Its a shame most games are ports but the majority are coded well and when drivers play ball your fine and can play games how they're meant to be played at high res and super smooth refresh rates!

 

Luke - Tbf I'm with jay on this one, I love my xbox one but when I got it I expected next gen for the amount I spent I hate all this portimg malarky n expect it to change fast I dont wanna suffer just above par games just cause they dont wanna havr to develop 2 diff games or lose capital by not selling games on last gen I mean the most new games should be next gen only. If we just settle for 30fps n the minimum they wont rush to develop the system. They gube us things bit by bit n really they shouldn't release a half done console. I mean there are 4k tvs around now and the quality should be aimed at next gen tech not just abive current gen. We need 60fps consistently asap otherwise its not really next gen

Step 2. If you get involved, at least have a plan to win them over.

 

Sidenote: Bungie said they'll be looking into putting it on PC, but they don't want to spread themselves too thin and make it a bad experience.

Not saying you did this, but still advice since I've seen it be pretty bad.

If you do get involved even when you didn't mean to, and they're refusing to accept facts, then don't keep going. Furthermore, don't type like an idiot, don't treat them as lesser individuals. Keep a clean side to your argument. Address their questions or statements in facts. Using proper grammar makes your article seem a whole lot more believable (even if it is fact), and respectable. 

 

Edit2: At this point, arguing with them is pointless as you've resorted to insulting them in either case.

Well in all reality its not capped at 30... They aim for 30 as a minimum and in some places provided your eye is trained well enough to notice the difference it will actually hit higher frame rates in some of the less demanding areas.. so far ive only noticed it in the social hub lol

I see this as you not being mature enough to understand that he is not tech savvy and thus he feels 30fps is great and you shoulc have caught that and just agree to disagree. There is no real need to "win" these arguments if the one or more parties do not understand what they are talking about of feels comfortable in their view. While i know 30 fps is not great and nothing below 60fps should be considered ad good, some people just don't understand the concept or are affected by it.

Oh joy another of these debates. News flash IDEAL FRAME RATE IS PREFERENCE and there for has no one answer. I like my games a a solid 60 fps but I have met people to whom this doesn't matter. Therefore both parties who involve themselves in this argument are wrong. I'm willing to pay 2k for a PC that does amazing things but some people can't. A gaming machine , pc or console, that delivers 30 fps at a decent (1080p and above is ideal not decent) resolution is delivering a playable experience. I PERSONALLY prefer 60 fps but you have to remember to some this doesn't matter. ITS A GAME. As long as they are having fun the machine running it has achieved its goal if it hasn't buy a new one (PC please). there is no argument that 60 fps is smoother but as long as it is playable which 30 fps is I fail to see why people get this upset. If you want this buy a pc and shut up if you don't good for you.

If you are willing to try and change their minds you will need them to like you, not hate you for insulting them.

If they get angry with you for a legitimate reason, you are not going to be able to convince them anything, they will blatantly ignore all information stored in your efforts.

I am pretty much with @Jade on this one.

Grammar must be maintained, don't make your comments seem rushed and pointblank. Find their arguments, agree where they are on the right track and lead them to the correct answer, explain why they are wrong in the other part in a way that doesn't insult them.

There are some times that I really want to punch people in the face when they clearly have absolutely no clue on the subject at hand and just talk out of their ass. It's sad really what all the misinformation and "lies" from the big gaming companies lead to.

I think the issue here is actually that your not listening to what he is saying.  you are hearing "30fps is awesome, even better than 60"  when he is actually saying "i don't care about frame rates, I enjoy the game anyway"  see the difference.

 

It's not about sheep stations and if you can't accept some people have their own preference then you are going to have a long bitter existence in life.

 

EDIT: also the only way to truly win an argument is to try and convince yourself you are wrong not them, you have to be open minded and understand why they feel the way they do and separate preference from reality.

Considering the input lag on most TVs, 30FPS and 60FPS probably won't make much of a difference for the majority of PS4 gamers.
