Just received my 1+1 today, would you guys be interested in a review?

Just received my 1+1 today, White version with 64GB storage (yes, it's a Chinese version). My experience with this phone so far is pretty good, fast and responsive with an awesome built quality, maybe one of the best phone out there right now. I think it's worth every penny I spent. I will be doing a full first impression tomorrow. If you guys have any question, feel free to ask me and I'll try my best to answer them all.

Also, please don't ask me for an invite because I don't have one  :P. I bought this phone from a 3rd party seller in Thailand. Imported from china (Probably from Aliexpress). If anyone really want an invite, I suggest you to stick around 1+ forum. More invites are coming.

PS. Sorry for my English, not my native language.

Of course - mention me in that review thread, don't wanna miss it -_-

I'm particularly interested in the screen, and screen touch quality.

Yes, definitely. I'm interested if the build quality and some of the details are up to scratch when compared to a flagship phone.

PS. Sorry for my English, not my native language.

You are better than a lot of native English posters here, so I'd say it's pretty damn good. Props for being so fluent with a secondary language.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I'm not sure about seller in Amazon. Pricing is pretty similar to Aliexpress though. People in XDA usually recommended Aliexpress to US and EU customer. Some seller has a shipping option that could avoid tax and import fees. 28mobile or Oppomart could be an option for you too.

Because there aren't any OC kernels out there. Only kernel is Franco's, and that's for battery savings.

First impression

After I unboxed this phone, I’ve to say that this is one of the best phone out there right now. This phone feels fast, thanks to the 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 + 3 GB or RAM inside, no stuttering, no animation lag and no problem at all. I did play with other flagship phones too, HTC One m8, S5, Note3 and G3. I think 1+1 is a bit more responsive than others. If I have to make a guess, it’s probably the Cyanogen rom that make 1+1 a bit faster. For someone who’s coming from a Note 1 with a CM11 rom, this is a huge upgrade for me. Glad I got this phone.

Baby Skin White Cover?

This is the smoothest phone’s back cover that I’ve ever play with. Really feel like a baby skin imo. Closest feeling material is anodized aluminium. Imagine that feeling but with a plastic texture. It’s not soft like a rubberized finished but not hard like aluminium too.  I can play with this thing all day. About the phone slipperiness, compare 1+1 to M8, M8 is way more slippery. Downside is it’s a fingerprint magnet. Oil grease, sweat can make the back cover quite dirty. (Picture in Spoiler)

Benchmark?

Well, I’m not really a benchmark guy so I’ll post an AnTuTu Score instead. If you guys have any benchmark that you want me to do, feel free to ask me and I’ll do it for you.

How about camera?

1+1’s camera isn't that great compare to S5 or G3 but it performs pretty well in daylight and OKish in bad lighting environment. Here are some quick snapshot I took with 1+1 today. I'll need more time to get used to this camera so I can control and take a picture how I want.

Call Quality?

I heard there was a problem that the volume was too low. As soon as I finished set up the phone, I updated it to XNPH25R. After the update, everything seems to be OK. Loud and clear voice, no hissing or call dropping. Supported bands are listed below.

2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz

3G: WCDMA: 2100 / 1900 / 850 / 900 MHz
TD-SCDMA: 1880-1920/2010-2025MHz
-- Which are equivalent to --- 1/2/5/8/39/34

4G: FDD-LTE: 2100/1800/2600 MHz
TD-LTE
1880-1920/2300-2400/2570-2620MHz
-- Which are equivalent to --- 1/3/7/39/40/38

Yellow banding issue?

Yes, I got that stinking yellow band at the bottom of the screen too. About 1.5 cm thick from the bottom. Yesterday, it was pretty bad but today it seems to be better. I think it’s the glue that isn’t fully cured. Some user say that UV light could help the glue cure faster. Maybe we will see in a week if it’s the glue or a defect screen. Overall, I’m happy with the screen. Nice color reproduction, sharp and clear. Compare to G3, I don’t really see a much improvement. 1080p is good enough for me.

Summary?

It’s a great phone. Built quality is awesome, solidly build, fast and snappy just like any flagship smartphone out there right now. If anyone get an invite, give it a shot. Trust me, it’s worth every penny you spent.
