Kraken G10 only lets you put a closed loop cooler like kraken x40 on it

G10 is for asetek AiO only

You need a custom waterblock for your card.

ok then. well then that splits me into two questions.

1) can I put the kraken G10 on it

2) can I buy a waterblock for it

so i suppose what I should be asking is this:

did sapphire move anything on the PCB?

I think so. The dualX pcb looks pretty similar to the reference 280x, and mounting holes are the same.

The easiest option will be to buy a G10 and kraken Xsomething (40,41,60, or 61) or a H110/H90

Custom loop =/= Closed loops and NZXT G10. They are very different things.

You can fit the G10 on the R9 280X Dual X without problems, and you must but an Asetek mounted AiO closed loop. Some examples: NZXT Kraken X40, Corsair H55, Thermaltake Water 2.0

You don't use a waterblock if you use the G10, The G10 is an adapter, which allows you to use CPU AiO WC on a GPU.
