ASUS Announces Strix GTX 750 Ti OC

The GTX 750 Ti is a great mid-range graphics card, and ASUS has improved the design with its semi-passive Strix technology on the new Strix GTX 750 Ti OC! Up to 65C it’ll run with the fans off, so you can game, watch movies or do your day-to-day internets in absolute silence. See how the tech works in this video:

 

 

Compared to the Nvidia reference design the OC is up to 7.7% faster (plus GPU Tweak support to push it even further) and the DirectCU II cooler is 58% cooler and 3X quieter. Meanwhile the Super Alloy Power hardware extends lifestyle around 2.5X longer too.

The Strix GTX 750 Ti OC will be available worldwide from the end of July 2014. 

 

 

 

 

 

I honestly don't see the point. You could probably get a GTX 760 for the same price.

The 750 Ti has a very limited amount of heat dissipation, slapping a large cooler on it is a waste of resources and simply inflates the price without any real benefit.
I'd imagine doing a Strix 770 would serve a much better purpose, after all Asus is still selling 770s with the outdated version of the DC cooler.

This is possibly the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen from Asus. I have 3 overclocked GTX 750 TIs using the stock cooler and even when under full load, they produce almost no heat. And by almost no heat, I mean 50C MAX with the fan profile locked at 40%. How about rather than wasting R&D funds on stuff like this, you go and shave $100 off the price of a GTX 780 Ti? If anything, you'd probably have MORE profit that way.

No and yes. They are all in the same PC, but unfortunately you can't SLI them. This wouldn't make a lot of sense for gaming where you would only have one graphics related process at a time, but in the case of programs like Folding@Home or Boinc where individual GPU's can be assigned separate tasks, SLI isn't really a necessity.

You obviously haven't been following any of the news. 20nm fabrication got delayed last year, so it completely changed the plans for both Nvidia and AMD. TSMC also gave priority access to it's 20nm chips to Apple, further fucking up any plans for 20nm GPUs. Current "rumor" at this point is Nvidia will release a refresh 28nm chip under the 800/Maxwell series names later this year. They are supposed to offer up to a 35% performance increase over their 700 series counterparts but will use less power, and therefore produce less heat, and be offered at a lower price point. Then in the first half of 2015 Nvidia will release GPUs using 16nm chips, skipping 20nm entirely, with those cards using refreshed 800/Maxwell series names. Something like 880-X.

Less is known about AMD's plans. Only information floating around so far cards using refreshed 28nm chips, similar to what Nvidia is doing. No info on 20nm or 16nm chips for AMD cards.
