ISP Being a prick

I am paying 35 a month for only 2Mb down and 1Mb up. But my internet felt slow as fuck so I did a speedtest provided by Speedtest.net. And I only had the speed of .40Mb download and .30Mb up WTF SERIOUSLY?

Are there any legal reasons I could persue on? for fraud or something?

This is my old pc which I am reamending to be a media server or a nas. Motherboard: Generic fujitsu CPU: Intel pentium G640 @2.8 GHz RAM: 4GB generic fujitsu memory PSU:  CPUCooler: Stock intel cpu cooler Storage:  Fujitsu MHZ2120BH @120GB, Soon to have a HDD for more storage.

No but I live 18 miles from the closest town

well, sueing the company wont do anything. Phone them up and threaten them with leaving for another company, they will probably offer a better package and lower the price. But if that is the best speed they can possible get, thats what your gonna get.

Are you sure you aren't paying for 2 Megabit?

Because then .4MB is a great connection.

Unless you're paying for a business connection, that has a guaranteed link speed, then all you can do is call your ISP and complain.

I pay $167 for up to 20 mbps with a 150 gb data cap, $1 per gb over my cap.  my data usage last month was 256 gb..

now that is highway robbery. lol.

8 Megabit = 1 Megabyte

 

2Mbit= 0.20-40 Megabyte
