Five Four Club -- Canada gets aboot?

Small feedback on your sponsor:

I finally caved to one of your sponsor messages and decided to go check out Five Four Club. I ran through their fairly (if not overly) simple fasion selector, filled out my details, and stopped after I had punched in "LINUS4TH".

Apparently they have a $25 surcharge per monthly billing cycle. Instead of it being advertised at "$60/month is a bargan on clothing!", it's actually "$85 a month marginally better deal on clothing!" for Canadian customers. I had sent an email to one of their account reps explaining that this is pretty intimidating for a new customer.

Their clothing looks pretty high quality but I didn't follow through with the order. Conclusion: You may have a better chance paying your mother $60 a month to scout clothing stores for you (let alone $85) if you're not very good at visiting them.

I'd try it out for maybe a month or two to get a few different combinations. I don't need new clothes every month.

Why is everyone so against spending a bit of money to look good? Just because were geeks doesn't mean we can't dress well.

yea but they seem to be enforcing the preconception with things like 'We'd rather use that money for the next gen' and '85$ is 2TB per month i'll stick to basketball shorts, converse, and bulk plain t shirts, thanks.'

Yeah it's Korea expensive in Canada. I'll ask them about it. Not sure why.

Apparently you have to pay shipping and import taxes which that probably covers. That seems like an overlooked idea when they considered Canada as a market.

Get an at-home job -- live naked -- have a spare budget for buying enthusiast stuff. I'd do it. Don't know why anyone would deny it.

EDIT: Linus probably pays employees in sponsor clothing so they can do the same. It's a good idea: mad tax write-off.

More of the usual, I'm pretty used to getting hosed at Canadian clothing stores... probably most of the  surcharge in this case  is duty, tax, and shipping, plus overhead for having a separate process for a small number of customers.

 

Still, 25$ is too much for me to be interested. It's 40%.
